This Pennsylvania gamer girl runs a William Control fan site and studies cannibalism. But not, y’know, the eating people part. Say om nom nom to Emmy Has a Gun!
trixie360: What’s the story behind your gamertag?
Emmy has a Gun: Honestly I have always had a love and fascination for guns. And one day while randomly out of the blue humming “Janie’s Got a Gun” by Aerosmith, I noticed that Janie could easily be replace by Emmy (my nickname). After changing “got a” to “has a”, the handle that has become my gamertag was born. It’s fun to have as it makes people start singing “Emmy’s got a gun” to the tune of Janie’s Got a Gun.

trixie360: Where do you live?
Emmy has a Gun: I live in what I like to refer to as the middle of nowhere in Pennsylvania. And seriously, it is the middle of nowhere. We barely get cell service out here.
trixie360: What do you do when you’re not playing games?
Emmy has a Gun: I run a fan site for the musician William Control called Hate Culture (williamcontrol.proboards.com) that has become well known enough for William himself to have tweeted on Twitter about it. I also dabble in fiction or screenplay writing, with an occasional drawing to go along with the story. And I also continue my quest for knowledge started in high school on the subject of cannibalism. Om nom.
trixie360: What’s the worst or weirdest job you’ve ever had?
Emmy has a Gun: I’d have to say for the worst job, my job working at Regal Cinemas, the movie theater. Not because it was really bad, it’s just that I worked in concessions and the floor was always slippery, I guess because of the butter, or rather “butter topping.” I slipped and fell a good 4 or 5 times during my time working there. Not fun.
trixie360: You should get hazard pay for that! How long have you been on Xbox LIVE?
Emmy has a Gun: I’ve had my gamertag for over a year, but I have only had the capabilities to get on Xbox LIVE at home for a few months. I officially became a gold member in December of last year.
trixie360: Do you have an arch enemy on Xbox LIVE, and if so, who?
Emmy has a Gun: Not really, I try to get along with everyone and be nice to people, even if some members seem to refuse to believe I’m a girl. Though I do have a particular dislike of the little kids who play even though they aren’t old enough because they tend to whine and complain and scream the whole game. And I also dislike guys who can’t respect girl gamers.
trixie360: What’s your Xbox set-up like?
Emmy has a Gun: It’s nothing grand really, just my Xbox named Crunchbite and an “Enhanced Definition” TV. Not as cool as Hi-Def but better than a normal TV I guess. Someday I’d like to have a nice HD TV with surround sound speakers. That’d be cool.
trixie360: I love that you named your Xbox. I need to name mine now! What’s the best feature of Xbox LIVE?
Emmy has a Gun: I’d say the ability to meet new people through gaming and to make new friends. Also getting to game with people in different parts of the world has been pretty cool.
trixie360: What is your favorite multiplayer Xbox game?
Emmy has a Gun: It’s a tough choice between Halo 3 or BioShock 2, but I think after some thought I’d go with Halo 3 because it’s a classic for me. And the custom games can get pretty crazy.
trixie360: What is your favorite single player Xbox game?
Emmy has a Gun: Now this is a tough question. With some many amazing games to choose from it’s hard to say. If I have to pick I’m gonna go with Assassin’s Creed 2. I love the series but what made this one fun was the variety of ways to assassinate your targets and the fact that at times you had to be creative in doing so. I’m definitely looking forward to the third game.
trixie360: What is your favorite Xbox LIVE Arcade game?
Emmy has a Gun: I haven’t really played many Xbox Live Arcade games, so I wouldn’t really be able to say. Though I do remember playing Hexic, which I think was an arcade game and that was pretty fun, and extremely addicting.
trixie360: What do you think is the best game of all time?
Emmy has a Gun: I’m going to say The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind. By far my favorite game of all time and the game that got me hooked on Xbox. What made this game amazing to me was the open ended gameplay, and the detail that went into the races, the culture, and the different locations was great. Above all the story was in-depth and drew me in to the point I couldn’t and can’t stop playing it. It’s so good that for fun I’ve started writing a screenplay based on it.
trixie360: Cool! What do you think is the best film of all time?
Emmy has a Gun: Avatar. It was such and amazing and beautiful movie and seeing it in 3-D was simply amazing. It’s a movie that you can see had many years of work put into it. I love the detail of the world, the characters, plants and animals. And the story was well done not having a single moment I’d want to fast-forward.
trixie360: What do you think is the best comic book of all time?
Emmy has a Gun: I’m gonna say Watchmen because it was unlike any other comic I had read. The complicated and layered plot had a hold of me until the last page.
trixie360: What do you think is the best album of all time?
Emmy has a Gun: Hmm, tough one. I don’t know if I actually have an answer for this one. Having a 120 gb Zune, you can tell I listen to a lot of music, so for me I really can’t just pick one. There are way too many good ones. But if I have to pick just one I’m gonna go with The Joshua Tree by U2.
trixie360: Rock Band or Guitar Hero?
Emmy has a Gun: Rock Band, the selection of music is better and the style of game play, game setup and way you progress through your “tour” is much better than Guitar Hero. Not to mention Rock Band has a Lego game (that’s hilarious in many ways) and Guitar Hero doesn’t.
trixie360: What is your greatest Xbox LIVE moment?
Emmy has a Gun: There are quite a lot of good moments, but one that sticks out would probably be this custom Halo 3 game of Slayer I hosted with a couple friends where I had it set that the score leader would have a forced armor color of pink. This led to everyone trying to not score and to get the lowest score by committing suicide. A very amusing game.
trixie360: What’s your favorite TV show?
Emmy has a Gun: I’m not really a big TV watcher but occasionally I get hooked on certain shows (and 9 times out of 10 the show gets prematurely ended). My favorite TV show would have to be Birds of Prey, which is loosely based on the comic series of the same name. It was canceled after the first season, but I thought it had potential and what made it stand out for me was it was an all girl group of crime fighters.
trixie360: Who is your inner rock star?
Emmy has a Gun: My inner rock star? Hmmm… I’m not really sure on this one. Personally I like to think I’m my own inner rock star, something new and unique.
trixie360: If they made a movie about your life, who should play you?
Emmy has a Gun: Kristen Stewart or Amanda Seyfried.
trixie360: What’s your karaoke song?
Emmy has a Gun: I don’t really do karaoke, but I do a lot of singing for Rock Band, and every time I sing I usually wind up singing either “Heir Kommt Alex” by Die Toten Hosen (mostly because I’m the only one of my friends who took German) or “Lazy Eye” by Silversun Pickups.
trixie360: Favorite cartoon character?
Emmy has a Gun: My favorite cartoon character would have to be Ookla from Thundarr the Barbarian. He has always amused me in the fact that he always seems to be angry about everything.
trixie360: Favorite movie quote?
Emmy has a Gun: “Like the weapons of the previous century we too would become obsolete. Pity, because I lived for it.” - Selene, Underworld
trixie360: If you could trade places with anyone for one day, who would it be?
Emmy has a Gun: Probably Emilie Autumn because I’d love to spend a day in her shoes and get to see what her life is like and what inspires her to write her music. Not to mention her violin playing is amazing.
trixie360: What celebrity would be the worst roommate?
Emmy has a Gun: I do think he’s a good actor, but I’m gonna say Robert Pattinson because I’m sure he’d be stalked and followed home by Twilight obsessed 13 year old girls. That’s not something I’d want a roommate to be bringing home with them even if it is unwillingly.
trixie360: How many people are on your Friends List?
Emmy has a Gun: At this time 64, although a couple of them are Zune.net friends.
trixie360: Who's your favorite Superhero?
Emmy has a Gun: Batman because he is one of the few superheroes who doesn’t have super powers, he’s just a man who believes in justice and happens to fight crime dressed-up.
trixie360: Hot celeb you’d like to be stranded on a desert island with?
Emmy has a Gun: Not really sure, but I’d probably go with a celebrity I didn’t like because once we ran out of food and had to turn to cannibalism, it’ll be easier to kill them off so I can eat to survive.
trixie360: If you could be any video game character, who would it be?
Emmy has a Gun: Probably the Nerevarine from The Elder Scrolls II: Morrowind mostly because I would love to live in Vvardenfell.
trixie360: What’s the worst food you’ve ever eaten?
Emmy has a Gun: Not sure if there’s really a worst food I’ve ever eaten. Well maybe that one time my mom tried deep frying a turkey for thanksgiving. She left it in too long and it wound up being dry and tasted funny. A moment we heartily laugh at now.
trixie360: What’s the first video game you ever played?
Emmy has a Gun: I can’t remember but it was either Wipeout or Novastorm on the Playstation that my mom bought me and my brother for Christmas way back when it first came out.
trixie360: What’s the last book you read?
Emmy has a Gun: 2001: A Space Odyssey by Arthur C. Clarke
trixie360: Complete this sentence: “People of Earth, ….”
Emmy has a Gun: People of Earth, I do not come in peace and I will not bow to your demands.
trixie360: If you could go on tour with any band --past or present-- which would it be?
Emmy has a Gun: I’m going to go with Emilie Autumn because she never does a show the same way twice. Every show is unique in its own way and it’s more like a stage show than a concert show.
trixie360: What do you predict will be the 'next big thing' in gaming?
Emmy has a Gun: I honestly think Natal will probably be the next big thing if it is as great as it looked at E3 last year. It’s my most anticipated thing in gaming at the moment.
trixie360: Me too! What do you think is the best thing about the Xbox 360?
Emmy has a Gun: Best thing might be the hard drive. I still remember back in the day of Memory Cards and the hundreds of times I lost mine. The Xbox 360’s hard drive eliminates this problem. Also it allows for additional content to be downloaded which can make a great game even better.
trixie360: What is the Xbox 360 Achievement that was hardest to get?
Emmy has a Gun: Well I haven’t had any that was exactly hard, but one that was challenging was Vinyl Artist in Rock band 2 which was for complete ling the Endless Setlist 2 (a total of 83 songs). It wasn’t really difficult but it was tiring and took me a good 5 to 6 hours to complete.
trixie360: What would you like to be doing in ten years?
Emmy has a Gun: I’d like to either have a career in writing (fictional or screenplay) or have a job in jewelry making (which is a hobby I’ve only recently gotten into). Mostly I hope to have at least one novel published.
