Thread: Rock Band Priced, $169 for kit

Final street price was announced at $169.99 for the kit, which includes wired guitar, drum kit, microphone, and the game. Also included is a USB hub for all this crap to plug into! Not a bad price considering. I dropped a hundred on this yesterday as a pre-order.

Release date is Nov. 22nd I think.

Not bad at all, I was expecting $200.

i was expecting multiple packages to release game + 1 instrument, and that would retail for about $80, im thrilled that its all bundled for $169, thats awesome! hopefully they dont f up the DLC like GH2 did

wired controllers!!!! That totally sucks. I have officially been turned off by this game. That's so last generation.

On a side note, not bad price for all that's included. Hopefully the equipment isn't made cheaply and has a solid feel.

I thought the wires would suck also, but already having two wired quitars, whats another couple of wires! Plus the included usb will actually consolidate the wires as I can now extend this to the floor and plug all the instruments into.

They did away with the wireless because it would have made the bundle cost over $200 then no one would buy it.

I can see why they didn't go wireless. I just like the wireless controllers for these systems now, it's just a pain to go back to wires. And when my hometheater is back up, it's a pretty good run for the wires to properly see the TV.

Microsoft's wireless tech is more expensive to license.

If that went wireless for all instuments and mic's the price would be much higher then $169. I wonder if the other systems have wired drums and mics as well? If they do, then they will all have some wires.

I don't know that it is more expensive, it might just be off limits. When I talked to the Nyko guys about a wireless guitar they were developing for GHII, they had to make a workaround by a converter that plugged into a wired controller because they couldn't access the wireless standards on the 360. Perhaps that's why?

I dont know last I checked an update a while ago added support for third party wireless controllers, and I read somewhere online when it was first announced that rockband wasn't getting wireless the reasoning behind it was the expense.

It's not the expense, it's the fact that M$ is a bunch of dicks when it comes to licensing their wireless tech.

for GH3, all systems will be release with wireless guitars. The Wii version is the only one with rumble, and making use the wiimote speaker. Kind of cool use of the Wiimote though.

Fees matter of course, but the certification hoops are what Logitech said when they answered a question about why they haven't made a 3rd party 360 controller,

I think the certification issue may have been for GHII, then with GHIII.

for you, it may be the most anticipaed game ever, but not in history. I think Halo 3 set the newest mark for it.
