Marketplace NCAA 10 demo 1.57 gigs, also The Bigs 2.
has anyone tried it yet? opinions?
I did! For some reason the game has a different feel to it, almost as if it was made by a different company.
The Good
- All the new animations (over 1000 I think) are awesome!
- Pursuit angles have really improved, and not just when you are running down the sidelines, it includes the middle of the field as well.
- The Gameplay (?) function is cool, setting up how aggressive or conservative you want with 6 or 7 things on offense and defense.
- Player Lock on defense is great, and they do a good job with the camera angles on that.
- They are really going to make you use a more varied gameplan. It will be much easier to key in on things like "he likes to pass to the big side of the field from the hashmark"
- You can see more plays in the demo, especially like Tim Tebow's running plays from the shotgun formation.
- A neat little bonus with injuries, you don't know how bad it is at first until Erin Andrews comes in a few plays later with an update. Also, I had my TE get hurt and I had the option to pulling him out for the rest of the game as a precaution or plugging him back in.
The Hmmmms
- They mentioned how they added nets to the back of the goalposts, but when you kick the ball and it hits the net, it doesn't dimple the net. So, what was the point of adding the net?
- They did a better job with the camera angles, like when you roll out it will pivot a bit showing you more of the field but to get that camera angle to pivot you have to be about 10 yards from the sidelines. Also, you still can't see into the flats.
- The linked plays (like HB Dive and a Play Action Pass) are great but you really need to be picking those from "By Formation" so you can get back to the other one once it is set up 100%. The linked plays will appear under "Ask Corso" but you won't be able to get back to it to run the other play.
- I was up big as Florida and Oklahoma was driving. They hurry up to the line, let the play clock run down to 2 seconds, then call timeout. What?!?
Overall, it looks great. I think some of us who have been playing 09 for the past 11 months might be in for a rude awakening when 10 comes out. Things we counted on won't be as exploitable in 10.
Utopia Podcast is a cool podcast just dedicated to NCAA 10, the latest one (June 19th) is 14 minutes and talks about the demo.
Sheesh. If EA were a barber, he'd give you a haircut on half your head, then tell you to stay tuned... he might patch it later. That left side looks fantastic though!!! Why wouldn't this pivot as soon as you left the pocket? I thought the whole point was seeing areas you could not see...??
I. am. scairt. Take away my fast guys, take away my running angles, take away my recruiting edge, take away my scrambling, take away my tendency to the larger side of the field. I guess the next step is my entire team has been blind from birth or something...
Time to relearn the football game!
This game is still broken. I know it's only a Demo but when you can scramble 15 yards to the right or left and throw a rocket pass across the field for a completion, that is a football game that equals a total crapfest for me. Just like 09, NCAA 10 is total shit in a new package.
Have fun cheesers, this games for you!!!! Hopefully Madden 10 will be much much better.
Someone needs to put and end to this exclusive license crap. It's nothing but bad for video games.

Dude, what happened you were doing so well.
I finally played the demo last night, and I'm very impressed. The animations seem much more fluid and the graphics looked great. I really hope that they fix the AI though. I was up 21-3 when Oklahoma scored a TD and went for 2 to make it 21-11 in the 2nd quarter? They failed, but scored again to make it 21-16, but took so long on the drive (I also experience the hurry up offense, then sit on the ball and call a TO with 2 seconds left) that all I had to do was kneel twice for the victory. Strange...
Beyond that though, I loved how the game looked and played. I thought the addition of balanced, conservative or aggressive playing modes was interesting too.
Good point. me too.. I want NCAA football 10 as real as it is in real life. hehe..
I guess it's just each year I hope the issues from last years game will be fixed. Then I play the demo and see that they are not and I get pissed all over again that EA is the only company that has the rights to the NCAA and NFL. It's just not right. NCAA 10 is improved over NCAA 09, but some of the same gameplay issues are still there. Once the new graphics and camera angle wear off you will see the same issues from last year. Hopefully this year the sliders will actually work. Oh wait the Dev's have already said they are broken again as well.
Also why does every tackle look like a horse collar tackle? I admit, I don't watch collage football but I'm sure they don't all tackle like that every time.
I'm not the only one disappointed in this game:
