Thread: I am this much --> | . . | closer to buying a Wii

I am very tempted to buy a Wii for the family for Christmas. My son is 5 and my daughter 3 so while my son would probably dig it, my daughter may have some difficulty at first. I can only imagine how much fun it would be to get some gaming in with the entire family. I couldn't really put a price on that!

I had the little gaming info booklet that Gamepro put out for the PS3 and the Wii (with coupons from Best Buy in the back). I let my wife read it under the premise that I thought it would make for some good family time. I might have gotten her interested in it and if she supports it, then I'll get one for the family. I am imagining in my head the entire family playing together in the living room in front of the TV. I think it would be loads of fun!

So you all may see me with a Wii soon. I'm actually excited to try out the Wiimote and the new games!

I'm definitely TRYING to get one... I even have the girlie interested in it now!

I just can't seem to find the damn things!! I called CC this morning - the girl said they had 30 this morning when they opened up and then they all sold out.

Called Target - same thing - "got some in last night - about 25 - and they're all gone..."

Called Sears - "we were supposed to have some in today - but - they never showed up - I'm not sure what the story is..."

1 GS - "had some last week, but they're all gone"

2nd GS - "no we don't have any - wont get any for 3 or 4 weeks" (retard)

3rd GS - "i think we might get some in on Tues or Wed..."

So - I'm holding out hope for the last GS. I don't know how these people are getting the scoop (at CC and Target etc) when they're in so that they can snatch them up... Unless it's just a 'right place right time' thing...

odd, they had a few just randomly available but now, they seem to be a lot more scarce!!

We got 19 in lastnight and when I went in a few hours after the delivery, all were sold.

Sony must be cringing when they see the latest sales from Nintendo and MS knowing theres not a freakin thing they can do to take attention off them. Must suck to have no consoles ready to go to retail.

My wife called me this morning and said:

"I was one person away from getting a PS3!!"

I was like "what??!?" She was pretty excited, it was pretty funny. I had no idea she was even interested. Maybe she got caught up in the hype!! haha.. actualy, I know what it is. Disney is releasing their titles on BluRay and she wants to get them all for the kids. I told her the PS3 is the cheapest BluRay player on the market right now. That's gotta be it.

She also said the Wii is sold out all over the place (not sure if she was repeated what she was told or if she went out and checked). I told her the Wii might be much more fun for the family b/c of the easier controllers, etc. She said she wasn't sure and thought of it like the old lame fishing game or something. So I don't know if I'm closer to getting a Wii or a PS3 for the family now.

So I went to an auction to support the school we send our kids to. It was pretty funny how many console / handhelds where donated. I guess it helps having MS and Nintendo in our back yard. The DS Lite went pretty big in the silent auction… The funniest one was they had a Game Cube (I guess they couldn’t find an extra Wii), it had no bids on it until the very end some finally bid $30, and it came with 4-5 games and some other stuff.

So they had two 360 premium packages in the live auction… I really wanted to bid on the viva piñata one but after spending some serious cash on the Seahawks package I was out of cash… It was amazing though both packages had a value of $800 or so. They went for $600 and $700 I wanted to bid so bad…

I am also thinking about getting a Wii for the family. What games would you think would be family type? The sports stuff would be fun for a bit, but what else is out there? My daughter is six and plays the 360 prettty good, so I might have a bit more leway (sp?) in choices, but I do want some fun games where we can all be jumping around and stuff.

I am on the hunt now also! I told my wife it would be january (after I pay off our deck!) but oh well...

I was going to get one right away if I couldn't get a PS3, turns out I was able to get a PS3 first.

The only game I really want right now is Zelda which I can pick up in two weeks for the cube. I'm sure I'll probably get a Wii eventually as I like all systems but honestly I barely have enough time for my 360 and PS3 at this point. Probably a good thing since I've spend way too much money these last couple of months.

I'm sure I'll be wanting Mario Galaxy and plenty of others when they come. This hobby is such a sickness.

I think if anything I am waiting until the spring, when the beavers start building their dams again ... or is that when the squirrels come out of their chestnut trees ... In any case, I'd like to get my wife crack addicted to the Nintendo Wii too so that I have more leverage on the gaming front. That can wait until Spring I think ... hopefully Nintendo Wii will be available by then and I won't have to travel thousands of years into the future to get one
