The changes they have made really tighten up the multiplayer game play and really make it competitive again. It might not be as fast as many other shooters but like crip was saying that is just part of what halo is. Halo is more of a game where the smart player actually has a chance to win out in a firefight against the adderalled out kid who has been playing for 38 hours straight, so I really dont mind that it is slower. As the pacing of a game gets faster you lose chances to use tactics and teamwork. I cant think of many times playing with friends even in call of duty that I ever used teamwork its always just run around shooting people and if we all get enough kills we will win, and usually that is enough to win more than 50 percent of the time, that just doesn't seem to work in Halo. Like Bungie says this is the definitive Halo made by the people who created Halo, they have taken all that they have learned over the last 10 years and put it all into one game and I am glad to say that I really think that with the right tweaking this really could be the best Halo game ever and I will definitely buy it.
I haven't really even considered picking up this game. That said, if there was any chance I would, it would be mostly because of this post. I haven't truly enjoyed a Halo game since Halo CE on the original XBox. It was my first Xbox game, and favorite Xbox game. If they returned to their old roots in a newer installment, something like that just might be enough to convince me to spend a little of my hard earned money.

Halo CE was a game that just floored me when the Xbox launched. Many levels from that game still amaze me to this day and remain some of my fav gaming moments. I can't remember any of these moments from H2 or H3. Well, one moment stands out in H3 in co-op w/ Wonder, Keezy and Quo. That's about it. Halo CE definitely stands out for me among the Halo series.

Reach definitely feels more of a step towards Halo CE then H2 or H3 did. Back are the Health Packs as is the pistol. So it plays very similar to Halo CE. Hopefully the single player will have some insane moments of awe and the exploring CE seemed to have. CE seemed less linear and more of an open sandbox then H2 or H3 did.

What is the single player campaign going to be based on? How does it fit into the rest of the Halo world?

Glad I could help you reconsider cause did you get any play time with the beta? There are still the usual annoyances that come with playing an online game on xbox live but I think, the game play is good.

Peench, the campaign is supposed to be centered around a squad of Spartans called noble team during the battles that take place on reach. They arent as powerful as the batch of Spartans that master cheif was part of but they are still bad mo fo's. Halo CE's story picks up right after the pillar of autumn jumps randomly into slip space to escape the battle for Reach after the covenant defeated the humans there. Reach was a human colony world and I believe one of the closest to earth so basically it was one of the last battles to protect earth from the covenant. Reach is pretty much a prequel.
