Thread: Report: PS3 Wins By 2010

As the console wars continue to kick it into high gear, more predictions and expectations flow through the Internet. The latest, provided in an abridged form by Gamasutra, sees the PS3 outselling both the 360 and Wii by 2010, despite the fact that "PS2-style dominance will not be repeated."

In looking at the numbers, the numbers show the PS3 claiming a victory in the Japanese and European markets, with the 360 owning the crown on U.S. soil (albeit by a slim margin over the PS3). The Wii will be a "distant third," but the report still recognizes Nintendo's great potential in the coming years: "Nintendo's strategy with the Wii is, at the moment, the great unknown...if Nintendo can make this work, the potential is absolutely huge."

It's all going to come down to software, like it always does, but for the sake of argument, let's just say the PS3 is looking better than expected. More reports like this one keep cropping up...they gotta mean something.

Yes, that the Sony marketing machine works very well...

However, I believe that Sony well pass MS at some point in the future. I think 2010 maybe pushing it unless everyone stops buying the 360. I think the 360 will be $199 first and $99 first which will continue it sales. I also know there are 100m some odd PS2 consoles that will be replace by PS3's at some point in the future which will allow it to win... Providing software manufactures continue or start to embrace it...

Huh? The PS3 is not even out yet in Europe yet, so all they are going on is pre-orders. Which we can figure our mostly slated for the resell markets.
And even then, Amazon UK has yet to sell out as last report.

Plus the higher costs in Europe vs USA and Japan have ticked off many people over there. And just recently the news that the PS3 will emulate PS2 rather then include the Emotion Engine or whatever its called.... Guess we will know in a few months about the European battle front.

I believe I heard the same stuff even before the console was released.

2010 would be plenty for another Xbox. You gotta remember the 360 released long before the PS3 and you were slow to get one if I remember right. I bought mine launch nite and it won't bother me at all to upgrade then

"Slow" as in getting one maybe 5-6 months after release, whenever GRAW and ES:IV hit the shelves. I'd think would be too fast if the PS4 hit in 2011 as well, but then again the PS2 still thrives after the PS3 launched unlike the xbox.
