Websites are saying this a shot of the upcoming CGI trailer that uses some ingame tools but why does this have to be CGI? Gears looks better and is all real time. Look at the warthog..no detail on it. I hope for everyones sake they shoot for the retail version to look atleast as good as the following pic...
They must be holding back and giving it a more realistic look instead of going all out with the use of CGI. Why am I posting this?

I like it... it is a different approach, and doesn't show any of the game (only hints, not spoilers). I do hope that they make it known that it is CGI and not gameplay footage. That may be a little ishy if they give the impression that it is in-game. I'm sure gameplay-having commercials will appear closer to the March release of the game.
To be honest, I just can't wait to hear the music.
I will be watching MNF for this only. Even though I always watch it anyway.

I think the pic is badass and looks pretty sweet, but the Halo series has never been about the graphics as much as it's been about the gameplay (which is why it's top of the charts and MLG played). Although I like graphics, they only get you so far. Keezy doesn't keep playing Scrabble and Candyland because the board is pretty, he thinks the gameplay is riveting.
But they've been pretty good about repeating the words CGI whenever they mention the commerical, as well as the fact that they (Bungie) didn't even make it.

Awesome! A little flash back to Master Chief as a kid laying in a field dreaming about Aliens..then BANG! He is in battle with them.
After reading Onyx I have to wonder what MC picked up on his mission to the 2nd ring...was that shield some new forerunner tech that blocked the plasma bombarment?
The first shot looked a little dull, at least on my set, and then as the scene zeroed in on the kids the details were just amazing. I hope the game looks this good.

They did a good job w/ the CGI in that thing. When MC was running, his motions were so fluid. I can't believe how far CGI has come! It's amazing to me.

Yeah, I peed three times. Once for each time I had to watch quick before bed. It gave me chills and a tear ran down my cheek as it cut from John as a child to being Master Chief. Excellent. I was yelling to Jen (my wife), "That's John as a child! Holy shit!" All I got back was, "You're a nerd." I hope Bungie can pull some badass visuals out for Halo 3 that resemble this CG work. The armor actually looks like armor over the undergarments. Perfect.
I thought the trailer was awesome, but do the other folks here that have read the books think anyone else will get that that's Master Chief as a kid in the beginning?
I peed too Crip. A lot, I got more than "you're a nerd" though, I also got the "Only animals pee on the carpet Sal."
