bump.
Has anyone heard anything else about this? I was under the assumption that their beta would be going about now.....
Hell, even their twitter hasn't been updated for about a month lol
I dunno, their Twitter says they were at E3. Didnt hear anything from them after E3 though.
OnLive PR (OnLiveGames) on Twitter
Weird. I don't remember seeing them at E3.
Ah. They musta skipped their meeting with me then.![]()
Good point. They'z all h8in n chit.
probably. My guess they'll do something more towards the Japenes game show, which is usually towards end of the August. I latest, maybe the PAX show.
They know people are interested in it, and everyone wants to try it in real world conditions, not the optimal stuff we've seen thus far. It's not rocket science, as we can see in these forums, people are skeptical, and thus and big issues prior to release could be very devastating. The one thing in their benefit, they do have some good content providers such as Ubisoft.
Here is a copy of the email that they sent me. At first I wondered if they were just trying to stress test their network. However, if running the tests did lead to getting to experience their platform I might be intereted in giving it a shot:
Thank you for registering for the OnLive® Beta program! We’re continuing to increase the number of new participants in the program, and we'd like to consider you for one of these slots.
At this time, we’re requesting feedback from U.S. residents over 18 with PC’s running Windows (Vista, XP or Windows 7), and using the Firefox browser (if you don’t have Firefox, you can get it here). If you meet these criteria, we’ll need to run about a 3-minute performance test on your computer to see whether you are a fit for the current stage of OnLive Beta. If not, you may be a fit later on, and if so, we’ll certainly let you know.
What We'd Like You to Do
Step 1 | Save this email. You'll need it later for reference.
Step 2 | Run the OnLive Performance Test BETWEEN 4PM AND 9PM PDT WITHIN THE NEXT WEEK. Please run the test on a few different days so we understand how your Internet connection changes throughout the week.
Step 3 | Pat yourself on the back for helping us out!
We've created a special link to the Performance Test JUST FOR YOU. Bookmark this link, but please don't share it with anyone else or you'll be removed from consideration for the Beta program.

THAT was pretty funny!
...err, I mean read what?? Huh? I didn't read anything, I swear. I am, however, emailing them immediately to let them know how uniquely unqualified you are to press buttons on any sophisticated piece of machinery.
I went to run the test last night, but my firewall blocked communications from their servers. Of course, they don't provided what ports need to open. I don't know understand why with a system that is be used with a web browser, why everything isn't set to use the web browsing ports--80 and 88. So irritating. Plus, you have to do it during a specific time frame, and mine I'm only up for 30 minutes.
At least you are being honest.
lovekeiiy:
I do not run anything other than windows firewall on my pc's and have a gateway firewall on my network. I had to open a quite a few ports to get certain services running.
I will check and see what ports I have open and see if opening them on your firewall works for you.
The test that they run also scans hardware if you have a reactive firewall it may not have liked that. Additionally I recived a java prompt which if I denied it would shut down the test.
Did you email quo-beta-h8tr@onlive.com for help?
