nice. I think he may be a bit ambitious thinking household can have that system in ten years. I just don't see PG&E and other electric companies so happy about giving up their main consumer product.
Plus there are questions of how to implement the systems into new or old housing. What about businesses and apartment/condo complexes? There is also the issue of the firefighter safety. Currently, solar panels on roofs pose a large threat to fire fighters because they may not see something burning below them, the extra weight can cause the roofs to cave in sooner, and are another obstacle they have to work around in the heat of battle.
Nonetheless, I like the possibilities that may be the future. Kind of interesting about how they implied usage in cars too.
That's very cool!!
Bot, you should really check out the Germany way they're dealing with solar.
Dig it
I really like the idea of "net metering." I saw a bit about it on the MobLogic podcast. Basically, your produced energy rolls your meter back and your usage rolls it forward, so at the end of the month you are only charged for your net use. There are several areas in the country that already have this type of metering in place.
They need to complete this before the sun burns out in the next few years.
Some more info on this along with a video for your enjoyment.
