After today I'm done with Game Stop
Since the Sega Dreamcast I've done all my video gaming business with Game Stop. I know the manager of the store quite well and I've always been treated excellent by him and others who work in the store. I've spent a lot of money there over the years and I'm a valued customer to them. However today once I pick up my Pre-order of Call of Duty 4 I will no longer be buying my video games from them. It's not because of the service, it's the price.
I've found another store, Bull Moose Music Wharehouse that sells games for less, sometimes a lot less. At Game stop I pay the usual $59.99 for my 360 games. At Bull Moose All new release 360 games are $52.99 to $54.99. Not a huge savings but still over a years time when you buy games like I do it adds up. Bull Moose is far better when it come to used games, at Game stop NCAA football is $54.99 used and at Bull Moose it's $34.99, big savings there.
So Today it's goodbye to Game Stop, I'm sure they will do just fine with out my business........or will they?

Heh, and then they try and sell a gameplay guarantee for another $2.
When I do buy the games I buy them new if I can. I would rather get an untouched game for $5 more than a game that has already gone through the ringer.
I wonder if we will see a drop in this soon... I doubt it though, but I can dream.

I'm with Gordon: I always buy new. I used to buy used games that I was unsure of but wanted to try since most places will let you return them, but I don't even do that anymore.
Good find on the Moose... I doubt Gamestop will even care you've gone, since they're like magnets nowadays, but if your new place is not only cheaper but has better service - they'll boom.

I dunno- you were happy with them for all these years and they sell the game to you at the same price you'd find anywhere..ain't that a little wishy-washy?

I love gamestop. What else is there to do when you're at the mall with you're wife? Outside of Sears and a few other cool stores, it's one of the only fun places to spend money.

Wow, those are some great prices! That's about what we could get them for from the distributor who we are signed up with. I wonder if they're making any money on them!? Wow.
I say support local independent stores like Moose and Cool Stuff.

I have been waiting for this to happen to Cool Stuff. I think I would like the sound of booming business. After four and a half years, it continues to be a labor of love, rather than a profitable business, but I remain hopeful! If more people could see how ridiculous it is to pay that much as much as GameStop charges for a used game, then we would be much better off. The more support we get, the better!

I too hate the GameStop. I get my stuff at GameCrazy but we also have a local store that I go to occasionally.
