Join Date: Jun 2007 Location: Wichita Falls, Texas Age: 25 | Wireless Headset I've been having major issues lately with my headset. I have the one that came with my 360. I can hear others (sometimes they break up), and more and more frequently, they are telling me they can't hear me at all, or that I'm breaking up really bad.
I thought I read an article on this site before about what the best headset is out there, but I couldn't find it. I honestly couldn't care less if it's wireless or not, I just want it to work and I'm tired of people not being able to hear me. Do you suggest I get the new Halo mic, the very similar non-Halo wireless mic, the gameshark headcom mic that says on it's packaging "works great with halo 3 and madden 08!" (the two games that I play on live a lot), or something else entirely.
Please give me your input, as this is extremely frustrating! Like I said... it seems to be getting worse lately, but it's always been an issue. I recently got a new internet service, and my NAT settings are open, and my xbox says it's getting a great signal, so I don't think it's an issue with that.
All tips are greatly appreciated!

I use the headset that comes with the Microsoft Messenger Kit and it works great, no worries. I've considered getting the MS Wireless headset, but I've been in many a room with someone warbling (sometimes they cause this woowowoowoowoo sound). I understand it's easy to fix but I don't want the hassle. Plus, being wireless isn't that big of a deal to me. The controller's already wireless.
I'd stay away from cheapy headsets. I don't know anything about the Gameshark one but some of their stuff doesn't seem very well built. On the other hand, I don't know about paying extra for a Halo-branded one either...
For my money, the MS ones seem to work fine. Every once in a while someone seems to come across a bum one... as it appears you have. They're not made to withstand much, but generally they're ok. I have my original one (still works great) and this new chatpad one, and I like both.

The first one had lots of cutting out and the warbled voice, this once hasn't lost connection once (been using it constantly too) and to my knowledge, I've had no issues. Voice choppiness in game can usually be fixed from turning it on and off or unplugging it and plugging it back in, if it happens.

If it's as simple as taking it back to Circuit City and changing it out, I'm all for it. But otherwise, I don't mind paying a little extra to avoid this problem in the future.
Am I wrong in saying that I read somewhere here on PGL that the Halo version of the wireless headset does not have the "woowoowoowoo" problems that the original wireless headset does?

The Halo 3 version of the Wireless headset seems to be the latest and greatest build with no issues that I've heard of so far.

Seriously though, it's never even cut-out, have others heard feedback from me? I can't hear it if it's happened.

I occasionally hear that sound but it's always in a big group and I never know who it is. Usually whoever is doing it figures it out right away and corrects it. It's not a big deal.

I'll buy one of those sweet Halo 3 wireless headsets eventually... but not now.
Let me know if you still hear me cutting out all the time.
