You need a few things to do Rock band right, the first being a killer audio setup, and the ability to crank it up. (many cant do this because their parents wont allow it). I can, and do.
Halo is nothing new, it is a shootem up game that has been around a while and has had a chance to become popular and gain a following.
Rockband will require a substancial financial investment in hardware, space, time, and audio equipment, to be appreciated by the masses.
Is it worth it?
I think so, but then again music is very important in my life, much more than running around blasting aliens.
I know it will never sell as many copies as Halo, but for me, it will be much more fun to play it.

| My restraint is not waking up the kids. I'm still on the fence tho. I'd love to rock out with fellow PGL'ers, but I'm wondering if I would play it enough to make up for the price tag. If I had more people who would come over and play it would be a no brainer. But since my only gaming friends are online and don't live very close, I'm still on the fence. | |

| I saw some article on it where they said the DL content might be MORE than GHII due to the fact that *more* development had to go into each Rock Band track - to cover all of the instruments...
Hope not... but... Quote: |
The rep also speaks about a few other issues, the most pressing of which is probably DLC pricing, a hot topic among Guitar Hero II fans. The rep is quick to point out that Rock Band tracks require more development than Guitar Hero tracks, as there are more instruments to be dealt with. In other words, we're expecting they won't be cheap, though the rep explains that there are many ways to pick and choose DLC.

When he isn't fishing of playing poker my boy is hosting major battles at his pad.
If they made a guitar that could feed him though a straw and a drum set that doubled as "waste" recepticle I seriously doubt my boy would ever leave living room.

Games of this genre have incredible repaly value. Just like the music contained in them, it is timeless.
You can play for hundreds of hours and it is still fun, unlike your typical videogame, where after you beat it, it rarely gets played again.
When you figure the "cost per hour" of Guitar Hero or Rockband, it is a real bargain in videogames. At least for me it is.
