Microsoft clarifies Xbox 360 games compatibility

On behalf of Xbox 360 Core owners (the version of the console that doesn’t come with a hard drive), gaming site GamePro.com asked Microsoft to clarify whether a hard drive will be required for some forthcoming games. Earlier news had suggested Microsoft is to start putting “Hard Disk Drive REQUIRED” stickers on certain games, essentially making them Xbox 360 Core incompatible.
In answering the question, Microsoft tried to clear up the confusion with a confusing statement. It begins:
Every game will work with every Xbox 360 system… But just like some games will require you to have a Memory Unit to save games, some games will require you to have a Hard Drive to experience them.
So, basically, if you want to be able to play all games to their fullest, then you are going to need to buy a hard drive.
Surely, it’s time to drop the Core system? The hard drive is essential to the Xbox 360 experience and gives you access to loads of downloadable games, easy saving, and extras for your favorite titles. Do the right thing, Microsoft: ship all your consoles with a hard drive!
