| 1080p from your Xbox 360 I'm surprised no one has commented on it - listened to Major Nelson's podcast last night and noted the long convo he had with Albert about 1080p output from the 360. It will be supported via component and VGA, but they are not pushing the component side of things in case the studios hit the flag and cut it down. It will all be pushed via the VGA cable even with the flag. Very cool news!!
If you missed the discussion, check it out on Major Nelsons' podcast!

1080p over component is a joke. It won't allow upconversion of standard def. DVDs because of current gen DRM and may not allow HD-DVD to be anything above 480p if ICT is implemented.

Is the software update that allows 1080p coming out around the same time as the drive? I should hope so.

| because, if I am not mistaken but, I am pretty sure... VGA is a analog medium whereas HDMI, DVI and such are digital mediums. | |

| My Sasmung 1080P DLP takes 1080P over the VGA. I run my HTPC over the vGA at 1080P. I will defiitely run the Xbox 360 at 1080P on that set. I just hope MS has other resolutions for widescreen monitors. I use a gateway widescreen with my other 360 and it's max input resolution is 1680x1050. Other smaller widescreen monitors have 1440x900(not sure of the exact resolution)) so hopefully MS will also enable those resolutions. | |

I am very happy with my display today. I won't be making a display move till blu-ray/hd- dvd is settled (may have a long wait )

Remember the few 720p/1080i games that were out for the original XBOX? I pretty much expect it to happen with 1080p this go around.
I also think a lot of folks are going to be dissappointed due to the fact that they are hyping 1080p like it's the holy grail and it's so much better than 720p/1080i. They are going to spend all this money and realize that it was really to have something that looks exactly the same.

| in Major Nelsons podcast, the guy being interviewed about 1080p said that the game developers found out about it pretty much the same time as we did, so it'll will definitely be a while before we start hearing of games supporting it. | |

Join Date: Sep 2006 Location: Missouri City, TX Age: 39 | FYI...according to the Xbox 360 Home page - Quote:
Standard and High-definition gaming output in the following VGA formats:
640 x 480, 848x480, 1024 x 768, 1280 x 720, 1280 x 768, 1280 x 1024, and 1360 x 768
| My SXRD XBR and LG LCD have VGA inputs that will accept it. However, My Mits RPTV has VGA that shows to only accept up to 640x480. What gives? Wonder if there is a sevice menu setting to change that, or if I'll just have to stick to component on that set.
The Mits is in the theater room where I was really hoping to use the HD-DVD add-on, but if it won't upconvert standard DVDs via component or HDMI-to-DVI (no HDMI on the old Mits), then I might as well wait and get a stand alone for this set.
May have to get another 360 for the SXRD set and LCD.
