Alright so I made up the name, but it will stick, mark my words! Last night we played a few matched and had a blast. After crashing, then turning off crashes, then racing around all over the place we had whittled down to me, Woundup, AZ and NoHabla.
Nohabla told us about this crazy game mode he stumbled upon that was a complete blast. We split up into 2 teams. AZ and me on one team and NoHabla and Woundup on the other team. We raced this mode twice and had so much fun I was tempted to do it again, but had to get some sleep. Here's the dig.
The Setup
The track is Nürburgring. One member of each team takes a Mini Cooper. The other member takes whatever super fast car he or she likes the most. Collisions are on. Damage is cosmetic only.
The Game
The game mode is simple. The guy driving the Mini Cooper tries to finish the race first for his team. The guys driving the fast cars try to take out or block the other team's Mini Cooper. The Mini Coopers get a 15 second head start and then the mayhem begins.
The Results
The results are hilarious! You will laugh the entire race. Guaranteed.
Race 1
In the first race I was in an R1 beast and AZ was in the Mini trying to score. NoHabla was in the Mini and Woundup was in the Diablo. The 15 second head start goes off and Woundup and I take off. I plowed into NoHabla doing about 200MPH or so and sent him spinning all over the place. AZ was doing a good job of avoiding Woundup somehow and had a commanding lead. The smashing continued and I think I laughed the entire time. There were some awesome spins, crashes and complete misses.
Then NoHabla started getting tricky and ended up passing AZ and Woundup. I spun him a couple of times, but that R1 I had didn't have any turning radius and I got stuck on the track a couple of times, letting NoHabla get a pretty decent lead. AZ was being blocked fairly well by Woundup.
We end up in the final stretch and I smashed NoHable a few times, but he kept driving. Woundup then ditches his efforts against AZ and guns for me. He takes me out and then swings back into the track to take out AZ. NoHable goes on to win it for their team.
Race 2
The rematch had me in the Mini, AZ in some exotic, with Woundup in the Mini and NoHable in a sexy R1 number I believe. We got off to a decent start and I avoided crashing in the first turn (unlike Woundup). Nohable caught me a few times and tried to ram me, but that little Mini likes to stay put. Most of the time he ended up simply boosting me further down the road. A few times I was actually able to spin him instead.
I ended up with a decent lead and Woundup had a tough time getting past AZ. Apparently AZ had a knack for blocking the entire road and not letting Woundup past him. I ended up taking it for our team.
The game mode was so random and so simple, but so incredibly fun that I recommend it to anyone with a room of 4 people. Give it a shot and let us know how you like it.
The matches we played last about 15-20 minutes each and I laughed through the entire thing. When we were done it seemed more like about 5 minutes had passed.
