PGL Summer Racing Series
Forza 2 has taken XBL by storm and it's time for a good romp around the track at PGL. Rather than get into a hardcore, gotta-be-there-at-this-time-on-this-date event, we'll be chillin' out with an ultra-relaxed team-style event.
Here's how it will work. We'll split the site into 3 or 4 teams, depending how many signups we have. Racers will then compete whenever they want, as long as there are at least three racers in a race event (online room). At the end of each race your "points" increase based on how you performed and how many are in the room, i.e. 8 points for 1st, 7 for second and down the line. Just race as much as you want and when you're ready to quit, write down the points you've earned and report them back to the Forza Summer Series here at PGL.
Just be sure to obey the following simple rules.
- Races only count when there are three or more participants in the room. This means that if you've been racing with just a couple of people or a bunch of non-participants, you'll need to re-start your room to keep the scorekeeping accurate.
- If any team has more than a one-man advantage, only the first and third place score totals count for that team. We're doing this to prevent too much blocking and intentional crashing. For example: Say a room includes 3 team members from Blue Team and 1 member from Red Team. To prevent the Blue Team from simply wrecking the Red Team guy, only the first and third place scores for the Blue Team count.
- Race any class, any requirements you want. But be fair to the opposing teams. Take turns picking race class and tracks.
- It's up to each team to report their own points! Don't rely on your competitors to report your points. Points will be reported in a stickied thread in Connecting/Tournaments forum. I'll sticky and link to it from the Forza forum for convenience.
As usual, we'll be making this up as we go along, so the rules are subject to augmentation...
(in any way necessary to make my team win
)
I'll post weekly standings and try to keep up with who's done what in terms of the points lead, etc.
We'll also track individual contribution and have an overall points leader.
That's basically all you need to know. In case you're confused about the rules and how it all works, here's an example.
Six PGLers are in a race room. Three Blues, Two Reds and a Green. They begin to race and have various scores. One Blue decides to go to bed. He writes down his score and leaves (and later posts it to PGL). The others conitnue to race. A second green shows up and brings a guest. (No problem, guests are fine as long as enough PGLers are there). The racing continues. People come and go, it's all good as long as you write down how many points you have when you leave and post them up. Eventually the room drops to lower than three participating racers. The remaining racers then write down their points and report them. Done.
The only problems I foresee will occur when a room that previously didn't qualify or has a two-man advantage rule in place changes and more racers join. In that case, the room needs to be reset for new scorekeeping and everyone needs to write down their score.
I'll post up guidelines for reporting scores when we get started, which hopefully will be this Friday night, June 15th. After that, race any time you want, as long as three or more PGLers (and at least 2 teams represented) are there.
I'm hoping to have a lot of fun with this. I'd like to have special events for double points -- like maybe take two or three team members from each team, or pit team vs. team in race challenges for double points on longer races complete with pit stops, etc. Let your imaginations run wild, it'll be fun. Play any way you want: cat and mouse, team racing, individual, long races, short races, whatever. If you want a special event for double points, just let me know what it is so I can approve it so we keep a competitive balance.
Somewhere down the line we'll declare a week-long Championship event and all races will be for triple points. At the end of that week we'll crown the winners with their very own PGL Forza 2 Summer Series Championship banner.
