I have seen the light
Or maybe lights is the better word. Was playing Saints Row tonight and had the screen freeze, then go black, then had the two left lights blinking red.
So I shut down and restarted, and everything came up fine. About 5 minutes later, same thing happened again. Don't know what to do at this point. Maybe I'll try it again tomorrow and see what happens.

Good luck. I had to check and see if you were on the west coast, and at all affiliated with the "Jon Liu red light curse". Alas you are not.

It's over, once you get the red lights your 360 is on it's way out. Hope you got an extended warranty. Sorry to hear about this, I've been through it twice already.

BLars buddy, sorry to hear that. You have the dreaded 10/15 Birth Date, so there's no need to worry about the extended warranty because Microsoft is fixing any 360 that was built in 2005 free of charge.
Microsoft will either repair the system or, if the problems cannot be fixed within two days, Microsoft will replace the old system with a new one. Anyone with a broken system manufacturerd in 2005 can call 1-800-4MY-XBOX to speak with a customer service person.
Good luck dude.

I looked up the "light code" last night. Says that it is related to overheating. I'll put it back up on top of my entertainment center and try it out again today. If I still get the lights, I'll probably have to call MS.
Yeah, and thanks to MS's recently fixing any 2005ers, I should be good. It'll just suck being without it for awhile if I have to send it in.

has it been two days for me yet?! I want a brand new unit as opposed to the refurbs I've been getting back!!!!!
speaking of which, I heard that eventually they're going to replace the CPUs in the 360 with smaller dye CPUs. Going from... uhhh whatever size they are to 90nm?
The reason I bring this up is that it is ultimately supposed to run cooler with a smaller chip.
Not exactly sure when they are going to replace them or if that rumor is certain but, either way, I'd assume they would do the switch under the table and not publicly announce such things.

Its not rumor, and they are already 90nm, they are dropping down to 60(me thinks). They will start production of those in spring 2007, and will be on shelves soon after. I always said I needed to have atleast 3 like I did with the original Xbox, and Im purposely waiting for this newer production run to hit stores so I can have them all next to one another
Speaking of systems, my PS3 Killa skin hasnt arrived yet. My Core model needs to be sexed up
**If I go 4 or 5 years without any of them dying, I am truly in good standing with Uncle Billy. That or Im far enough away from CA that the "Jon Red Light" curse cant touch me!

MS will switch to a version of the Xenon CPU fabbed on a 65nm die process, beginning in 2007. The CPUs will be made by Chartered Semiconductor in Singapore, under license from IBM and Microsoft.

Thanks for the clarification Spoony!
As for 4 or 5 years.... I CURSE THEE!! ahh haha... that means yours will die soon!
Me thinks that something is in the power over here in the west coast if a lot of problems originate from this side of the nation.

Well, I have been leaving the door open to my entertainment center, and haven't gotten the red lights back after playing FNR3 for a few hours the last 2 nights. I wonder why it would just start overheating now though?
