NPYYZ - I am glad you made it, I wanted to invite you but mentioning this site gets you banned over there.

I hope we can hook up and play some professionally managed madden games in the future

Seriously, send me an invite sometime.

2K should come out with a "fully customizable" football game, that initially has no "NFL" sponsored items, teams or players. Then some "independent" or end user should have all the logos, players, rosters, stats, etc. downloadable as a patch or a microtransaction. This would allow 2K not to infringe, but then let some nobody make the 2K game a true NFL game.

Didn't MS say they were going to open up the microtransaction thingy to end users or normal people? There has to be some kind of legal loophole from EA's grip on the NFL.

Hell I'd gladly take a 2k generic football game over Madden. I like the Madden game this year, but it's still lacking features that we have in NFL 2k5. EA just doesn't seem to care. Just use the same cities and give the teams and stadiums different names. I don't know why they have not done this.

About the legal stuff. I was under the impression that having a monopoly was illegal. In my town we only had one cable provider and it was delcared by the courts to be a monopoly ,and they allowed other companies to start providing cable services as well. Why can't this be done in the video game football situation?

Having a monopoly is legal unless your name is MicroSoft If Bill gates pulled half the stuff EA does, you'd see the court hearings on tv.

Sorry, crabby from lack of sleep.

Gotta agree. Look at the type of programs that Apple incorporates into OSX with nary a complaint and nothing but praise from all of the Mac fanatics. MS includes Media Player and a browser and you'd think that the competitive landscape for the entire software market had been irrevocably compromised.
