Competition is always good; I just hope that they are able to get enough legacy players to make it interesting.

Join Date: Oct 2006 Location: South Portland , Maine | It's now official, 2K football will return!!! For me, being a big time video game football fan, and an even bigger fan of the NFL 2k football games, it could not be more fitting that Greg Thomas, President of Visual concepts made the announcement on January 30th, which happens to be my birthday, that 2k is indeed working on a new football game for release on next gen systems sometime this summer. YYYEEESSSSSS!!!!!!

Now it appears that 2K Sports is feeling like it wants to get off the sidelines as well. Today, the publisher announced that Visual Concepts is returning to football with All-Pro Football 2K8. The game is scheduled for release on "next generation video game systems" this summer.

She just said to me: " So, are you going to take the day the game comes out off, like you did when 2k4 and 2k5 came out?" I replied: " no I won't take the day off, one day won't be enough for this game , I'll need at least two days off!!!!"

| Hahaha! Nice, NP!!!
I know how you felt. I did the same thing for Gears of War!
I am excite to see All-Pro Football 2k8! I've always liked the 2k games a bit better than the EA games just because they felt more fluid in the gameplay. They were just slightly less "simulation" in comparison to their EA counterparts which was okay by me, since I'm not a huge sports fan, anyway!

| 2K has always been simulation. They went for TV simulation, ie what you would see on a TV broadcast, which gave them a little leway in the football simulation.
Like everyone else, I'm excited about 2K coming back to football. I haven't purchased a football game since 2005. Madden just doesn't appeal to me. It seems to get more gimmicky to me rather than trying to improve the game simulation, per se. The "hit stick" is as appealing as playing with an ugly girl. Yes I like big hits, but in the real game, big hits only happen a couple time during a game.

| They've updated the site some. Now they're showing some of the legends that will be in the game. Some even have pictures. No gameplay footage though. There is also a remix of Rush's Tom Sawyer if you like that stuff. http://www.2ksports.com/games/football2k8/ | |

Join Date: Oct 2006 Location: South Portland , Maine | All I know is it isn't Madden so it won't suck. I read a hands on preview on the operation sports forums and the guy who got to play an early build of the game for 45 minutes says it is already light years beyond anything Madden has done. Here's a bit of it: "I only got to play the game for about 45 minutes. Thats because they had several people there and wanted to give some of the employees a chance to play. I imagine you'll start seeing other "reviews" or "previews" pop up. However, we were reminded on more than one occasion that we all signed NDAs and were expected to honor this.
60 FPS. Animations that DESTROY ANYTHING YOU HAVE SEEN IN A SPORTS GAME EVER! Incredible weather effects. A presentation that makes Madden's look like a complete joke (we already knew that 2K5 did this but just WAIT until you see what they have done with APF) Reports from the sidelines, great play by play and color (same guys from the previous games). The presentation makes you feel like you are actually watching a real game of football. 2K5 did this great but APF makes you go ****!
In the 45 minutes I played this game I did not ONE TIME notice ANY repeat animations. Sure, the QB dropping back and maybe the WR catching some times were repeated but everything else was truly remarkable to witness. Over and over again I was floored at what I was seeing. players getting pushed, tripped, slapped, falling over other players with killer collision detection. I did notice some flaws but believe me, it will not take ANYTHING away from the otherwise incredible experience.
When I played PGR on the 360 for the first time I was blown away and thought "This is next gen". Well, PGR now reminds me of PGR one the original xbox now. It seems like LAST gen LOL! APF's graphics, while fantastic (and MUCH better looking than what we saw in GI) it is the animations and tackling, running, the fumbles, gang tackles, refs getting in the way (yeah, this game had REFS ON THE FIELD! SHOCKING HUH) the players emotions (although they do look kinda funky at times) that REALLY are going to freak you out. Did I mention that all of this has dynamic lighting and runs at 60 fps?
It is all here. A TRUE football experience that will FORCE EA to get serious about Madden. Seriously, EA's Madden will get a MAJOR overhaul after they see what 2K has done. I did not, for even a SECOND, think about this game not having official NFL teams, players, stadiums. I immediately got lost in the game play. As corny as that sounds, it was true. It was Madden's first video game that got me into gaming in the first place so it is football that I look forward to every year (except these last few years because of the obvious) and APF has brought back this magic in a way that has to be seen to be believed. All without the NFL license. Imagine that."

| Sweet, I am all over this game. NP, we need you for the tourney next year. It really was well played and I think you would have had fun as it was played pretty close to what should be done given a particular situation.
If this is the game we choose, you better be there!

No one did anything cheesy to my knowledge (going for it on 4th down, etc...). Madden forces some things, like people might go for it on 4th down from the opponent's 30 or so because it's dang tough to kick a 40+ yard FG online... other than that, it was pretty real. I was very pleased!
