Splinter Cell 5 a 360 Exclusive?

Now don't get this confused with the Double Agent game thats due out in weeks. The Splinter Cell game that comes after Double Agent is supposedly called "Conviction" and sites are showing that more X06 details have been leaked and this is one of those snippets of info.

Here's the official quote from this *supposed* release...

"Ubisoft confirmed that the next Splinter Cell title, the installment after Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Double Agent, will be exclusive to Xbox 360, a testament to the ability of the powerful next-gen game console to deliver experiences no other console can match."

This takes me back to the whole RE 5 rumor. WHY would Ubi Soft, or any company, alienate others and keep themselves from making a ton more money by making such a game an exclusive?

After reading that....

This has me thinking...SC was never a total exclusive, just a timed one. SC and SC 2(pandora) were on the Xbox 4 to 8 months b4 anything else.

A timed exclusive makes sense, total exclusivity does not. Regardless, a timed one helped the Xbox install base grow exponentially, this is fantastic news!!!

The next entry in Ubisoft's popular Splinter Cell franchise, following this year's Double Agent, will be exclusive to Xbox 360, Microsoft revealed today in Barcelona.

While Sam Fisher's upcoming role in Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Double Agent will play out across platforms, Ubisoft is developing the follow-up entry for Xbox 360 only, locking out competing platforms such as the PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii, or even PlayStation 2.

Of course, exclusives don't always last forever these days, and it isn't clear yet whether the next Splinter Cell will eventually sneak onto other platforms after a first run on the Xbox 360. We'll keep you informed as soon as we have more details.
