Halo Wars (RTS) confirmed!

Microsoft just announced at X06 that Bungie and Ensemble are making a Halo real time strategy game for 360 and PC

So there was truth to that 6 month old rumor after all!

It closed the show. It was pretty damn sweet. Opened with a bunch of warthogs coming over a hill, weaving in between a few Scorpion tanks. A group of Marines is under attack and calling for reinforcements. Cloaked Elites appear and wipe out all the marines. When the warthogs arive, battle ensues. A lot of battle. A group of Spartans arive on a cliff, Spartan Group Omega.

"If they want war, we'll give 'em war." A logo for "Halo Wars" closes the trailer.

Yeah... it isn't the game engine or anything cool like this. Still!

Oh, and RTS is like Warcraft or Command and Conquer. It is being done by the people who did Age of Empires, which apparently was pretty cool. Battle for Middle Earth II played pretty well for a game that is made to be played with mouse and keyboard, so I have high hopes that it will be even better as far as controls.

Age of Empires rocks and the creators are very much into balenced game play. This can be a real problem in these type games. So I'm very excited. I only wish I still worked for MS so that I could beta test it and have the inside scoop. I was a beta tester for age of empires, man it was tought to do your real job.
