Saints Row "Story" Trailer

Not a whole lot of info or anything, but it is a trailer. I'm looking forward to this game... I'm hoping that it'll outpace GTA4 both in terms of the single and multiplay. Maybe it's just that the first version was a pleasant surprise in terms of the fun factor, but I'm expecting a lot now.

I'm kind of underwelmed by this game. The first one was cool and all, but GTA4 was a good game (not a 10 to me) but it had a good story and a lot of action. I didn't finished SR1 yet, about 2/3rds through, but GTA was able to hold my attention better.

Plus, GTA looked a lot better.

MadB and Bott grumpy about a game?

No way!

I enjoyed the pace and goofyness of SR1. Much more my style than the GTA series. But hey, to each his own. There's plenty of room for both games in this category.

I like these type of games for a couple of days and then they bore the crap out of me. Same thing happened to every one of the GTA games I have played, as well as Crackdown, Saints Row, etc.

Shouldn't this thread be titled (so people won't think it's old news) "Saints Row '2' Trailer" instead?

I am DEFINITELY looking forward to "Saints Row 2!" The ability to play SR2 in "co-op mode" is going to be a blast!!

I purchased Saints Row(1), after playing the demo of the game (based on a recommendation by a friend - who never even bothered to play the full version of SR1). I recently finished all the single-player achievements in SR1, which was very fun to do, not just tedious (in order to get the achievements).

Quo... thanks for uploading that trailer. I hadn't seen that one before, and even though I am already planning on getting the game... it was interesting to see the trailer! Hopefully, other people who might have an interest in the game will see it!!

I wish the people who aren't interested in the game (or threads for any other game that they aren't interested in) would STOP POSTING THEIR COMMENTS! Why waste your own time with your negative," uninterested in the game" comments? Don't you people have better things to do? Yes, it's a free country, and YOU HAVE THE RIGHT to speak your mind... but do you ever think about whether you should or SHOULDN'T?!

My comments weren't absolutely negative. They were relative. It was a comparison to the "gold standard" for which all sandbox games are compared.

I didn't play the online on SR1, so I cannot comment on how well it played or it's game modes. My biggest issue, and I know it's it's a big ol' duh statement, is that it was just a GTA clone. I liked crack down since it was at least different in story, and had that jumping ability. How many games do we need where you're a criminal; just like how many WWII games do we need?

Towards actual game play, the only thing I didn't like, and this is true for any game I play, was the collecting of tags, and CDs. The tagging fits the theme of the game, but I found them tedious.

If they can do a nice co-op play, something with four or more players, that would rock. It was fun on Crackdown. I just like the co-op missions on GRAW where you can have a boat load people working for the same thing.

No, your comments weren't completely negative or "unnecessary!" There WAS someone who gave a "yawn" comment with a thumb down - and THAT was unnecessary!!!

BTW... you should finish all of the "Escort" missions: The "homie" you acquire from that mission alone will want to make you play the game a lot more (unless you're a female or a homosexual male)!

P.S. ALWAYS save your game BEFORE you use any of your homies. Once they die (even Zombie Lin), they stay dead! You can always reload and be more careful the next time through.

I think a couple guys have their panties on to tight. This forum is about opinions and I'm fairly fed up with being called out on them

We're never serious for too long, even if we try. It's just impossible. We're gamers first, right?

No, no, no. I was just messing with MadB and Bott. They've both been around a while and have an established track record for being semi-grumpy. It was a joke, and I might should have made that more clear. It's all good. The forum's all about video games and discussing them. There are bound to be differing opinions about games and that's fine.

I know what Old School means... at times it's frustrating to read someone slamming something that you might thing people should give a chance, whether it's a game, an idea, or a view, or whatever. There is a pack mentality sometimes and if the ball rolls in the wrong direction, a seemingly unfair view of whatever it is can be "promoted". But in the end you have to just let people figure it out for themselves. Most people who frequent the site are familiar enough with the other members to know which members they are likely to fall in line with opinion-wise anyway.

I can't explain well why I think SR is different from GTA, but the last one was a lot more fun for me than any GTA game. We'll see if that trend continues. Like Nukle, I'm typically bored to death a few hours in to a game like GTA4 or Mass Effect (both are current problems for me). On the other hand, I completely finished Crackdown and Saint's Row. I think I like the lighter, less believable side of things.

I didn't even blink about Quo's grumpy comment. All these young wipper snappers, LOL.

I think some of the enjoyment, if memory serves me well, is SR1 did capture the PGL attention for some time. How can we forget the SR1 dance a thon.

Serious? This forum? Not likely. Old School should be happy we didn't high jack the thread sooner. At least it stay kind of game related.

guys Shut up and let me speak...damn Palookas!

The story looks like a Straight Gangster movie, and the last sound reminded me of "Heart of the City" while it played to the trailer of American Gangster. The only fun part of Saints Row was the little things they added. Customization, Destruction Derby, Hydraulics, Robbing stores, The Pimp Cane shotgun with the Pimp limp walk, plus the Voice of the guy who had one leg missing in Dead Presidents. Most of these where taken from GTA, But the story wont cut it IMO.

But i do intend to have fun with this to the fullest, Because GTA pissed me off by not having the Garages, the Customization, Hydraulics, Robbing of stores, & calling your homies to help you. Which they had in the other Gta titles, so ill play Saints Row for that stuff.

OLDSCHOOL quit BITING my style of Capitalizing words/sentences you want people to really SEE! Pretty soon you'll even start to use my three periods....damn SoCal people always biting us NorCal folks...Aint that right BOT!? We start the Trends, yall just steal'em & make them famous.

I loved the first game, and am really looking forward to this one. The story line and ending to me, were great, and hopefully I will be equally if not more impressed this time around.

Although I was disappointed about no garages in GTA, I did come to like the taxies. They really did speed up going place to place. Plus, I just robbed them when I got to my destination so I got my money back, LOL.

I was never into all the customization of GTA, SR, and so forth. And most of the time, I hardly use the garages because I would just steal another car.

As for the story for SR2, it's standard fair at this time. That's not necessarily a bad thing because how many games really do something new as for story line. My issues, from what I see, it's not going to be really different from the first in game play. The graphics will probably only be slightly improved. And unfortunately, GTA4 did increase the bar of comparison for these sandbox games. Is it a game will I get, probably, but not till it's in the $20 to $30 range.
