I get all cozy tonight to play some games and BS with Litch for a while when my console suddenly freezes in the dashboard. I turn it off, wait a few minutes and turn it back on. Sure enough, the good ol' 3 Red Rings. Funny thing is I was talking recently with a friend from school and mentioned that I've had my 360 for over a year and haven't had any problems. It's always been kept in a well ventilated area with plenty of space around it. Figures I'd get the RROD just a little over a week after moving, too. All 360's seem to be a ticking time bomb these days.
It was bound to happen sooner or later I suppose. Unfortunately, this one's from Gamestop and it's out of their warranty, so it looks like I'll be ordering a coffin on Tuesday. It's only my second console so I guess I'm pretty fortunate. My launch 360 crapped out a few days before my last warranty was up, so I was good. Looks like I'll be getting the Microsoft treatment on this one.
What are the chances of me getting a newer version with a Falcon in it as a replacement? My guess is: not good.

Death for DeTHMeTALxTReMe
| I've been picketing with this sign for years. Looks like my Columbian "business associates" missed their target and got your Xbox instead. Clever of them to make it look like a Red Ring of Death, though.
All the best, Biff. Being 3 ringed sucks!

| It's sucks that this is a valid point, but at least this was only your second. I hope you get one of the "Super-Fantastic 2 Week Turnarounds" I've been hearing about. I also hope the Xbox doesn't get dropped in a marsh/swamp on its way back to you. | |

| That sucks the big one Biff! I just sent mine back today so we'll have a race to see who gets theirs back first. I may have you beat though mine was sent overnight air since this is my second go around. All the best! | |

Join Date: Sep 2006 Location: Hill Valley, 2015 Age: 25 | I just got off of the phone with XBOX Customer Support (it's been a busy few days, haven't been able to call until today). They gave me the usual spiel and had me unplug everything and plug it back in. Still no dice. It will either red ring right away, boot up to the 360 logo and freeze, or load the dashboard and freeze a few moments later.
Anyway, so I'm told I'll get the shipping box within 6-7 days, and the 360 will be back anywhere between 2-4 weeks after that. I know it's a free repair (we'll see how long the next one lasts), but damn if that's not a long time to wait for a $350 item to be repaired. Needless to say, I'm a bit reluctant to buy the next Microsoft console at launch.
Hopefully I'll be back up within a few weeks. I don't mind, really, it's just more of an inconvenience. It's actually helping me focus more on my school work and projects than before (in post production on my movie now).
I'll let you guys know the status as it happens.

| I hear ya Biffco, I should be getting my Refubared console back sometime middle of next week. I sent mine back as it was a disc eating machine, and was starting to show EARLY symptoms of the RROD. As you said it's more of an inconvenience, but the process it deathly slow. Glad I have the Wii to keep me busy. | |

-Brad | That woulda been a great idea! I still have to pick one up, but I'm a bit bent at having to go out and get another one. I guess it will be nice to have 2 of them so my son and I can play together. Hm... does he get the new one or do I...?

Join Date: Sep 2006 Location: Hill Valley, 2015 Age: 25 | I received my refurbished 360 yesterday. So far so good. I doubt it's mine, as there's a slight black mark on the back, but the date of the refurb is the same as the dead one I sent in (8/25/06). Hopefully this one will be ok.
I'm definitely going to play some games tonight. I was so tired yesterday that I plugged it in to make sure it worked, but after that, I hit the bed.
I'm not sure of the exact date I called, but I sent it out just under 2 weeks ago. Not a bad turn around with shipping, but I was out of a 360 for over a month.
