This is a really fun game! It gives you four different player classes to choose from, and although it isn't a free-roaming game like "Oblivion..." it does give you a few alternate choices to make during the game which alters the ending of the game. There is some PDLC (currently for 400 MS Points) that gives you two more classes to choose from, and a few more weapons and the like.
The multiplayer is fun, too! The different abilities of the different classes makes it crucial to have one of each class, per side - particularly, "the priestess" - who can heal teammates - as well as having the other more powerful fighters.
It's a highly underrated game, and should be judged on its own merits. As for people saying it has bad character acting... I find that MOST rpg's have bad acting! The graphics are good, the lead females are HOT (for a video game), and the quest to acquire all the achievements (at least in single-player) is great!!
I only rented this game, but I would buy it... if a LOT more people did, too!
The demo is a fair glimpse into the game, but the "full" game is better. I actually played it all the way through - TWICE, and a third time about half of the way through. If I were keeping the rental longer (or if I owned it)... I would play it the rest of the way through with the other classes - AND I would get the PDLC and try the other things that were added.
Keep your eyes open for this title to go on sale in the near future. It's definitely worth picking-up if you get it on sale or used for about 40 bucks or less!

The sad thing is that the online was always empty even during primetime hours. If anyone else has this, it would be fun to get a game night together.

I liked the demo well enough & would be up for playing MP on the demo any time if it's still there... Not gonna buy it, tho.

Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: San Diego, CA | There's going to be a bunch of people playing Dark Messiah this weekend (June 13 - 15), in hopes we have enough players to meet the minimum needed to get those elusive multiplayer achievements. If only "half" of the people on my friends list (who have the game) get on at the same time as I do to play it... there will be plenty!
If you have the game (or are planning on getting it - even just to play the single-player game)... get it by this weekend! The multiplayer IS lots of fun, and there may not be another opportunity to play it with this chance of having enough players to make it worth while.
You don't really need the experience of playing the single-player campaign to do well in the multiplayer games. In fact, I'd say it'd make almost no difference at all (unless you finished the story-mode AND found all of the "Relics," as it does unlock the "Ring of Regeneration" to wear in the multiplayer game). Of course, I usually play the "Priestess" class... so when I'm not I'm sucking the life out of the enemy team members, I'm healing my own teammates... so you wouldn't need it anyway - unless you're on the other team!!!
If you're reading this but aren't comfortable posting a message on a public forum (I think there are a few who "lurk and read-only"), just send me a friend request. You can also send me a "private message" here, through the XBOX 360, or at xbox.com!
If you play the multiplayer game between now and June 13th, and you manage to meet anyone else playing the game... if they seem decent - AND they have a headset (I hate playing with people you can't communicate with, but it's not mandatory)... send them a Friend Request!
I'll be posting a final reminder Friday about the match this weekend (unless this thread just happens to get posts through that time).
I hope to see some of you there!

It starts out sounding like you are cursing me in the message (I know you weren't - everybody only does that to me under their breath).
It's only because of the punctuation. When I first read it, my eyes popped... then I laughed, because I knew what you meant, after reading the whole message. It should have started like this: "Damn, Jedi... I really want to knock off..."
Anyway... I encourage EVERYONE who has this game to get online this weekend and play it! The multi-player is a lot of fun. We're going to have a "boosting party" to get those multi-player achievements, because there aren't enough people playing the game on-line on a regular basis. Once most or all of those achievements are out of the way, everyone can just play the game for fun (and maybe the software company will drop the price to 20 or 30 bucks so everyone who hasn't played it will give it a shot)!
I added an event to the calendar for this, although I only did it a short while ago... because I never used the calendar before and didn't think about it.
