Help me!

This is just a repost of my Xbox.com post, i need help!! lol

Hello everyone, i regularly use the video streaming feature of the xbox 360 to play movies from my PC's HDD. For some reason it has recently stopped working. when i play the movie the screen goes black and the movie doesnt play. it acts like it wants to, but wont. if anyone knows of a solution for this, help me.

ive had problems in the past that are similar. the only thing i did (and it worked) was to delete the connection between the 360 and the pc then reconnect it like it was the first time i had done it

i would do that but for some reason, the connection doesnt exist on the 360, just the media center one. and i have removed that.

That seems odd. Did you upgrade anything recently?

I stream from a mac so I don't know how the PC streaming differs, but is it certain types of files like .mov, .avi, .m4p or .wmv?

Does anything stream?

Everything but my movies stream... lol, i know. ive tried to wrap my head around it for some time.

did you install anything new on the pc recently? ive always used MCE to stream and one day i installed winamp (dont recall why) and for some reason that made the 360 not see any of my files anymore

The xbox gives you no error messages about codecs or anything right? The screen just goes black?

Did you install anything recently, if Namehater had trouble with WinAmp, maybe you do too.

Have you tried switching to Tversity? My cousin and I (mostly my cousin) went through a lot of bull using Media Center and other Microsoft crap. Tversity will not let ya down.

Cuse, it didnt work for me. i dont know what the problem is, its frustrating.

OK, i just figgured out that i have audio, but no video. and thats after it takes about a min to get the video ready....ugh i dont know whats wrong with it. lol

When I first purchased my computer it did a similar thing. I had audio with no video and a found that usb cord was worn and once I replaced it everything seemed to work fine. I hope this works for you.
