Just shoot me now

Well, I just had THE MOST piss-assed experience... all the day's crap is done, and I decided I'd unwind by subtracting from Liberty City's population a bit.

Start up the ol' Xbox 360, kick up the feet as GTA IV starts up, then GGGGGRIND! WTF was that?

"Disk Unreadable."

So I clean the machine, restart, same result. Checked the disc and it looks like someone used it as a frisbee skipper on asphalt: my GD 360 ate my f#%&ing new disc!

I had a disc scratch remover & tried it out, but no luck. A feeble old lady could break a hip on the deep grooves in that puppy. So... I'm gonna have to send my 360 off to have it repaired. I threw in a used table tennis game to see if it would happen again, and it's fine...

Anyone else have this disc scratching issue? What did you do? I started getting this disc unreadable crap around the time FFoW came out, but I've never had a disc actually get scratched before.

Well if you get a PS3... We can probably shoot you now on MGS!

Sucks to hear about your system though. Keep your chin up, and it will feel like you're be playing in no time.

Yo Thornes! We've been able to fix a ton of very scratched discs at our store, even the ones that are spinning in the 360 when the system goes from vertical to horizontal (it leaves a horrible circular groove in it).

I haven't had the experience; thank god. But I've read about it on the net. It's like M$ went with the cheapest disc drive they could get. Sorry to hear about that. Maybe you might be about to bitch and get a replacement disc. I know M$ does it with little questions ask IF it is a microsoft produced game.

What product do you guys use for this Sam? My brother was given a free copy of Halo 3 that as some scratches that need to be buffed out.

one of my 360s has always made horrible drive grind noises, but has never scratched a disc, my kids said that it went RRoD on them a few weeks ago, but it hasnt been touched since then, not sure if the RRoD was permanent or not, i need to check it out

sorry man, MS knows about this issue, so i dont see why they would give you any troubles replacing the game, but who knows, it is MS

Onoman's 360 was sounding like it was grinding up babies. So he fixed it by hitting it (banging on garage floor) and blowing it out with compressed air. He says it is quieter than it ever has been. I asked for a How To video for YouTube. So far he hasn't gotten me one.

We have a $2000 professional disc scratch removal system (from Azuradisc). I'll PM you a shipping address if you want to send your disc in.

Sucks man, sorry to hear that. When I first popped GTA4 in I got my first ever unreadable disc error ever. Popped it out, put it back in, and it was fine.

OH GOD, That Vertical to Horizontal F'ed up my Saints row disc SUPER BAD, It happened after ZOOM Jinxed me with a damned Xboxlive Message "Did GTA come out yet? HAHA" thats when the 360 fell flat but while it was falling it scratched perfect circles on my saints row game. I was gonna take it to Gamecrazy to get it resurfaced but the ass said it wouldnt help. Im pretty sure he was lying to me cause he looked too damn lazy but i got my GTA now. Send it off to Sam and let him work his magic, cause having GTA messed up like that is horrible.

Did you lay it or stand it up while the game was spinning in the 360 Thornes?

i leave mine flat, I don't think having it sit upright makes it more likely to scratch your discs, but it is harder to place the disc in the tray correctly.

soemtimes my xbox started doing (coincdently the same day i gota gtaiv) whenever i turn the xbox on it makes a loud sound (and continues to do it while im on the dashboard), it sounds like sort of something is spinning but dragging on something. but once i start a game and it starts reading the disc, the noise goes away. Weirdest thing ever.

I'm hoping my xbox is going to live until some good games for ps3 comes out, i think i might switch when my box dies unless ms releases some no bullshit hardware for thier systems.

Though I will miss halo3, and the xbox controller feels a hell a lot better than any of the playstation ones.

that machine kicks major butt. It fixed a fogged NGC disc I sent that had small scratches that my dad and I used some acetone to try to remove, LOL.

Dang bro - that sucks. My 360 makes clunking/grinding noises when I turn it on, but so far it has been kind to my discs. Send that disc off to Sam and Geoff and let them work their magic on it!
