A few days ago, as some of you may recall, I ordered the XBox 360 HD-DVD drive from Amazon.com, since it didn't seem to be available locally.
THEN I find out Amazon doesn't have it in stock either. Buttplugs.
So tonight, I'm scurrying about the web when I should be vacuuming, or working out, or reading a book, and...well, you know how it is when you're on auto-surf: cyber-consciousness...you go wherever your thoughts take you. So what the hell, did a Yahoo Shopping search on "XBox HD-DVD" just to see if someone DID in fact, have one in stock. Last place I checked: Circuit City. Just for the hell of it, I entered my zip to see if they had any stock in my local stores.
They did. Closest one. 7 miles. National City.
I call--machine says they're closed. But the recording says, "For hours and directions, press 1". So I do. AHA! They close at 10pm. It's 9:50 by my Tag Heuer. Quick calculation: Could take the car, but the motorcycle's parked behind it in the garage...that would mean moving the bike out of the way...that's precious seconds...I could take the bike...would take even longer to gear up and get it out....shit...did I put gas in the beater pickup perennially parked outside? Screw it...no choice.
Mapquest. Keys. RUN. Blast up the highway. FIND the Circuit City. 9:57. PRAY the store's front door's unlocked, and ready to beg like a bitch if it isn't. It is. PRAY it's REALLY in stock.
IT IS.
Hell yeah.
So I get home with my new baby (MUAAAAAAHHAHAHAHAAAHAHAHAA) and I need to cancel my Amazon order.
Bastards won't let me. Guess I'll just refuse delivery.
That is, unless one of you boneheads wants to buy it when it gets here.
