Rock Band Family Fun

When I first bought GHII a year ago my wife laughed at me and didn't want any part of it. However, Rock Band has been a great game for my wife and I to play together. She enjoys the songs that are in Rock Band much more than the GH b/c they are typically lighter songs. She has pretty much got done the guitar on easy now and has moved up to medium so we can advance further in our World Tour.

The other night my in-laws were in town and somehow we got my both of them to try out the guitar on easy. It was pretty cool and they enjoyed it more than I think they wanted to let on .

The drums are challenging and I just completed a solo tour on easy. The drumshh pads are really awesome. I got mine a week ago and they work great. There is no change in the drums not picking up a hit either. It appears the drums are making the guitar easier for me. I played some more of my solo guitar career on medium and I was flying through harder songs almost five starring them the first time.

Overall this a really fun game that I need to play more than I have. I am looking forward to the day when my kids are older and we can play Rock Band as a family instead of just watching the same old stuff on tv.

Now if we could only play World Tour on Live!

My wife and I played this at a friend's house the other night. I'm a singer at heart and I thought the voice rec feature was very cool. We'll probably buy this in the near future, mainly because my wife truly enjoyed it.

hmm, this keeps raising a question for me. im considering getting rockband, and i can get the whole bundle for 150. now, i like guitar hero, i would say medium to a lot, would it really be worth getting rockband for me? i just really want to play the drums.

The drums are fun. But the drums alone with no game are $80 plus the game is $60. So if you plan on getting Rock Band I think getting a bundle is a no brainer.

I enjoy the drums but I don't know if they are worth $150 to play. The real experience of Rock Band is playing with other people together. So if you have a group of people you can play with I would recommend it.

I had fun w/ GH - picked up II and III... I was never hardcore - but I played through on Easy and then Medium and had fun with it.

I picked up Rockband when it came out - and GH has not seen the inside of my 360 since! It's THAT good!

It's something that I can play w/ my wife - with my nieces - and w/ buddies - everyone!

That said, yeah - they DEFINITELY need to get Band World Tour on Live! Quickplay is fun, but having the whole band gameplay aspect would be much better.

Myself being a drummer of 30 years, I felt the drum portion of Rock Band was poorly done. The kit itself is quite cheap and they way it is made and put together feels nothing like a real drum kit. The kick pedal is just horrible. Also I noticed even on expert a lot of the drum parts are left out of the songs, you can hear them being played, but they never appear on the screen. I've been flamed many times for my thoughts on this but I still feel a much more realistic feeling kit could have been made by simply removing one tom pad and adding a hi-hat for the same price. This would give you the basic 4 piece drum kit set up (see Ringo Starr's kit) At least then it would resemble a real set up.

I realize this is just a video game, and there is no way a toy drum kit with a price tag of $80.00 is going to compare to my new Yamaha Electronic kit that costs $4,000.00 ,but when I played the game, playing the drums felt awkward and uncomfortable. They could have done better. I'd love to know how to contact the creators of this game, I know I could improve on the drum kit design.

I tried to learn drums in middle school, but to start off all they gave me was a piece of black rubber on a wood stand to start off with. So my drum career didn't last two weeks. My interest in drums is still there though, so that is what caught my interest in Rock Band.

My experience in drums is no where near where yours is NPYYZ. I thought for $80 the drums are nice and work good for the game. If you have some suggestions on how they can make them better here is the info you need to contact Harmonix.

My wife and I have had a blast with this game. I still need to get the DrumShh pads, though!

Rockstar will become famous soon enough

This game really shines with lots of people around.
Playing it solo is just not where it is at.
What is nice is it does not matter if the people are into video games, how old they are, or how skilled, it is just plain fun for all.
My latest enjoyment is singing songs I know so well, I just turn around and watch the band play while I sing. No need to watch the screen at all once a song becomes you.

I bought this for the kids at xmas but I never tried it. Heck I've never seen the kids play it, though they claim they played once while I was gone
