| It's a definite improvement over the last pics, I am not totallt blown away though. I thought I read Forza 2 was delayed until early 07, so no x-mas release date. | | |

But I don't think it 'looks' next gen to me yet, I know they are still early in developement so there 'could' be more left to do. Sorry to sound anal but seeing how GOW looks (texture mapping, lighting, etc) like at it's stage, I hope the Forza 2 Devs do the same thing eye candy wise. I mean this is 'next gen' right?

Its not using the Unreal 3 engine.
And its a sim that relies heavily on physics and other things which tax the gpu/cpu like no other.
**Anyone that liked Forza did so for its customization and racing physics(well in general anways). Thats the reason I didnt care for the game. I want to oogle at environments, and just hop in and go. Hence why I liked Rally racers. More to look at and shorter learning curve.
Let the Rallisport Challenge team get a hold of the 360 if you want "eye candy". Until that time, Im not expecting much from racers in the graphics department, and I fear we will never see such a rally game
I take that back. The next Sega Rally is headed our way. Im sure it'll look great(assuming sega uses 360 tech and doesnt port it from the wii)

Why? 2 realistic as far as handling, I like Rally games to be more carefree and having the physics support that(I guess Im trying to say I like the handling to be a little sloppy, makes for good battles with friends on Live). And graphically, for a rally game, they didnt pass the spoonie test(jaggies were horrific on bigscreens/projectors).
Other than the 2 Rallisports found on Xbox, Sega Rally 2 on Dreamcast is the next in line for being the most fun along with being very easy on the eyes.
Im willing to try the next Colin Mcrae seeing as I dont have much choice in the matter, there are No rally games yet That and Sega Rally will definitely be bought. If A Rallisport 3 comes out, Mcrae will be on ebay faster than you can type "Spoonies a MS zombie"

You don't think Forza can have the same caliber of textures, lighting, and shadows? I don't see how it can not. With the 360 it gives you the latest graphical technologies.
I wasn't comparing purely shooters to racing sims, I was comparing textures/graphics.

A game can only look as good as the building blocks allow it 2(game engine). And ontop of that, you need people who live and breathe with those building blocks and know how to get it to look and play its best. You'd be hard pressed to find better coders/programmers/developers than the guys at Epic. They build their engines so they run efficiently as possible while STILL giving the consumer some major eye candy.
The Forza engine is I'm assuming primarily built around physics, not eye candy and how good it looks.
Nothing comes close to the Unreal 3 engine right now. Its why the games that use it look far better than most other games. Its why Sakaguchi has gotten Lost Oddyssey to go from pre-rendered CG to real time gameplay and the difference is almost invisible. Its running on the Unreal 3 engine. Its efficient and with capable people working behind the scenes, it comes damn close to pre-rendered goodness, closer than anything to date anyways.
You cannot compare the Forza 2 engine to the Unreal engine, therefore you cannot compare the techniques used and how textures look as an end result. Totally different game engines..
With games that are out to offer 2 totally different experiences...
Made by 2 Totally different development houses....
Thats 3 solid reasons why they wont look the same and one will look better.
Surely others here agree with me.
Good grief I wish Epic made all 360 games and they all ran on the same engine. Only then would we have *some* consistency.

There is no recovery from this affliction. The day 360 was launched and I played Condemned, CoD 2, and others, I posted on forums that I couldnt wait for the 720 I always want better textures, higher res, less jaggies, all with more action on the screen.

Join Date: Sep 2006 Location: Ohio | I see(some look different to me). If Epic is making it, they all have the same graphical look, I admit that. Lost Odyssey looks different to my eyes though, and do others on ps3 and 360 using the engine.
I dont like different varieties when it comes to the overall graphical look and style of games. I almost cried when I saw what they did to Team Fortress 2
Rambo is whining, Id add more but the little guy needs to go outside.

Too Human uses it as well and I forgot it did until just now. Oh, so does Mass Effect. That looks far better than Gears in motion and has a slightly different look(to my eyes anyways).
