Yes but by the shear population numbers Texas is part of Mexico...

You guys have it all wrong. America is a part of Texas, and the Alamo is in San Antonio to remind Mexico that they're not.
Hail Texas!

I agree that MS will treat this guy like freakin royalty and hook him up big time. He will come out ahead in regards to sig's and swag, but it still suck to loose the original.
I think I would have done exactly what he did. He did everything he could to get his 360 reparied without forking another $300 bones for a new unit, and voiding both warranties by swapping cases. Why should he have to do that for a poorly made unit he already paid over $400 for.
And also, why in the hell would he not use his 360 just because it was signed? Thats even more reason to use and keep out where he can show off. Some ink on the case has nothing to do with how the 360 performs or how long it will last.
He got screwed by the $7 worker, and now MS will have to make nice.

I just saw that little "T" in the flag that Jim Carrey is holding up in my avatar... That surely stand for Texas!

Really? Based on what? I know that their call center is a hassle and that their product is shoddy, but really how many complaints are there about the actual repair center? The only one I know of is that they have a slow turn around time.
Cause, the gringos are onto us.

Aside from people getting already broken consoles back in the mail? I thought that would be enough to justify the idiot tag being applied to the nimrods there.

That's the first I've heard of it. Doesn't mean that it hasn't happened, though. It can't be that widespread, though.

People getting back a broken console or a console that RROD after a day or two has been happening pretty regularly for the last few months.

Actually, as long as you use Sharpie brand permanent marker, it does indeed come off. I take it off of stuff all the time with little effort. Now, off-brand permanent marker is another thing altogether. You can tell the difference because off-brand marker looks kinda ghetto on stuff, where Sharpie looks clean and clear. Off-brand marker is a bitch to take off of stuff. Sharpie, which is what all of those people signing it would have used, would come off pretty easily.
Poor bastard. I don't think I would have sent it in, but I do feel sorry for the guy. It obviously meant a lot to him. What he should do is go to decalgirl.com and use this picture to make a custom vinyl skin for his box. Then he could continue to get it signed and if he has to get it repaired again, just peel it off and ship the system off to repair. The pictures are pretty clear. I bet they could make him a skin with all that stuff on it.

All valid points. I don't know what he's complaining about (I do). No one in his letter did it say not to clean the unit. He asked it be repaired and sent back to him, which is exactly what he got. It's the classic, be careful what you ask for, you may just get it.
Although we know the background of his 360's markings, but what about the factory/repair person who got this. Did the letter stay with it? If not, what would the person think getting it? I don't know know who those poeple are, and a lot of the comments were impersonal. I'm sure they get a lot of dirty 360s, and some are probably marked up, so it was probably just one of the more worse marked up cases they've gotten that day.
Although I think the guy is ghey, I understand his passion for his 360 and so forth. It's one of those situation where maybe his expectation was more than what a reasonable should have had, along with M$ representative's beliefs on what the repair could reasonably deliver on.
