Xbox 360 - The digital media hub

Most of us on PGL who have a 360 purchased it for gaming. However, the reason why a few of my family members bought their 360's were to use it as a digtial media hub. We use our 360 for pictures, music and video several times a week. This is a great breakdown of what the 360 can do as a media hub.

oh man, i love the hell out of my 360 for this reason, ive been using it in my home theater for awhile now, love it, i only use media center tho, i actually have mine streaming 360 setup so it loads right into media center

I definitely enjoy being able to flash up the hundreds of baby pictures to my big TV in the family. It beats gathering around the small computer monitor. Great feature!!

yep. that is an excellent feature. I showed off my mountain biking trip pics last year to a large party that way, it was so much better than everyone trying to crowd around the small screen...

I rarely use our camcorder now. I just take video clips with my digital cameras and we can play them back on the 360.

For playing music I think its fine, however its video "streaming" seems to be not there yet. atleast with the video files I have. my 360 spends about 2 or 3 minutes "buffering" the video, and after a while the video ends up losing sync with the audio, or I might need to pause it (which somehow leads it to having the needs to buffer it all over again). So until the next few dashboard updates, I'm sticking with playing videos through my PC onto my TV with my video card output. (though I really wish my 360 could handle the job, it would be a great convenience for me)
