TRON - XBOX Live Arcade

For anyone who isn't aware of it yet... "Tron" is coming out this Wednesday (1/9/08) for the XBOX Live Arcade! This game was HUGELY popular in the arcade back in the 80's, and now it's finally coming to the XBOX 360 Live Arcade - with enhanced graphics AND the ability to play co-op & versus modes. Best of all... it's only 400 MS Points (or about 5 bucks)!

Disney Interactive Studios is releasing this game for the XBOX 360, and they are also doing "Discs of Tron" for the XBOX Live Arcade - although there is no release date for that one. I'd like to say it probably isn't going to be released anytime soon, since it isn't listed anywhere in the "Games" section of xbox.com... but neither is "Dark Messiah of Might and Magic: Elements" - and it is being released Feb 12th... so Discs of Tron could be put up there on Wednesday as well (I wouldn't hold my breath on that, though).

I'm really looking forward to this game, as is a friend of mine (who has been asking about this game since before the original xbox came out). I have both of the Tron games that came out for the Atari 2600 (I also have that very rare "Tron joystick" for the 2600), but those games are pretty poor quality games compared to what was in the arcade.

"Tron 2.0: Killer App" is actually a very good Tron game for the [original] XBOX... unfortunately, it is NOT backwards compatible with the 360 - yet! This game has a fantastic multiplayer light-cycle game (it smokes the Tron arcade version of it). If anyone loved Tron, get a copy of this game. I'm sure the backwards compatiblity is coming for it!

Oh man, I can't even count the number of quarters I spent on Tron back in the old days! Playing those dang light motorcycles with the joystick thing was awesome. This one should be a fun throwback especially with the co-op and versus modes.

I played the heck out of this one too. I bounced between this game and Crossbow at the roller skating rink when I was a wee one.

Considering the controls weren't all that great in the arcade, I'd say that's a given...

I guess I should admit that I was never a big fan of this one...

Yeah, the controls can not get much worse then the original. They were a pain back then. I always liked the spider level, as it was the easiest!

Well, had a chance to try to demo. Controls weren't great. I don't recall being a big fan of this game, either, on the original arcade version.

I guess the game is kind of like I remembered it. Nothing great but it was only 400 points. At least I got a few achievements out of it.

Controls suck, but man... the nostalgia!!! It is funny as you start to play it, you vaguely remember the different levels, but even before you clear it, you are remembering the music it plays...

P.S. - I hate light bikes!

I will have to try out the demo on this one.

I need to watch the movie I have had on dvd for the last 5 years but haven't watched yet. Maybe I will just paint my face blue and have a Tron night!!
