Wii Virtual Console
Here is the list of games that will be part of Nintendo's virtual console:
NES:
- Mario Bros.
- The Legend of Zelda
- Donkey Kong
- Donkey Kong Jr.
- Ice Hockey
- Pinball
- Soccer
- Tennis
- Urban Champion
- Wario's Woods
- Baseball
- Solomon's Key
SNES:
- F-Zero
- SimCity
Nintendo 64:
- Super Mario 64
Sega Genesis:
- Sonic the Hedgehog
- Altered Beast
- Golden Axe
- Columns
- Ecco the Dolphin
- Gunstar Heroes
- Space Harrier II
- Toe Jam & Earl
- Ristar
- Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine
TurboGrafx-16:
- Bonk's Adventure
- Super Star Soldier
- Victory Run
- Bomberman '93
- Dungeon Explorer
Pricing will look like this:
Sega Genesis titles will start out at 800 Wii Points ($8) and TurboGrafx-16 at 600 Wii Points ($6). Nintendo revealed its own pricing scheme last month, with NES games going for 500 Wii Points ($5), SNES games for 800 ($8), and N64 games for 1000 ($10).
Hopefully, these prices will help level out some of the Xbox Live Arcade stuff. $10 for a N64 game (Super Mario 64 no less) is a far better deal than what I pay for some Arcade games on Live.

Thats a pretty good first release group. In the next release I want to see Chrono Trigger, SMB, and, if at all possible, Goldeneye 64(I think Rare owns the rights).

What's this "virtual console" you speak of? Is it like XBLA? If so, I may have to look at adding another console to my home entertainment system. Mrs. Zoom may not like it, but she may like the games on that list.

Yeah Zoom. These games will be downloadable for the Wii similar to Live Arcade. Since the Wii has no HDD these most likely will have to be saved on a SD mem card. Which may increase the cost of this 'virtual console' if you download tons of games.

No real worthwhile Genesis games, except for Space Harrier II.
The Turbo Grafx stuff is nice since 90% of the population never played any of those.
$10 is too much for a straight port of N64 games though. Especially since you can get an upgraded, albeit awkward controlling, Mario 64DS for less than $20 (Or even an original Mario 64 cart for under $10). And I seriously call into question how this version will control since the game was created solely with the N64 controller in mind.

Wow, neat. That is a better deal for those games as compared to the XBLA that we're paying now. I'm still planning on picking a Wii up at some point, although not righta way.

Good point. I do see a Wii console in my future also. My kids would love it. I may too.

We're getting a wii eventually, as well. Just not at this point. Or probably within a year or two.
I'm not big on Nintendo's meaty franchises, but things like Wario Ware and Animal Crossing ensure console sales from me.

Since I finally bought a television for my living room upstairs, I was talking about purchasing a second XBOX 360 and the gf said why not just get another console? That said, if I do it will likely be a Wii.
Although I don't like the idea of saving games to a memory card, I can see a Wii in my future. How soon that will be I don't know. With all of the spending I'm doing on my house right now, I cannot justify such a selfish purchase with the holidays coming up - not until I've finished Christmas shopping that is. With options such as this, the Wii is sounding appealing.
