Found a problem with the controller

I found out that the Wii controllers do not like sunlight at all. The living room where it is currently setup has a cathedral ceiling with windows at the top. On sunny days where the sun is coming into the room the controllers will not respond at all. If I crawl up and block the windows they work fine. Just thought I'd let ya know in case others ran into the same problem.

Very odd. I wonder if it has something to do with how the sensor bar picks up the movement.

Here's a photo of my sensor bar about my center channel. The two purple looking things above my center channel are the sensor bar.

I haven't had a problem with light yet and our main room gets filled with some pretty intense light. I will try it out next time I'm home during the day to see if it affects the remotes.

I wonder if you can shield the sensor bar from direct light from above and have it work?

It's not the sensor bar that is having the problem it is the remotes. The bar sits below the window out of any light. I think the sunlight shining directly into the remote sensor confuses it, not allowing it to pickup the sensor bar.

But they work in tandem right? I was thinking that perhaps too much light was getting into the sensor bar and blocking transmission of the signal from the remote. I guess I don't understand how the remotes work enough to diagnose it. It is very weird tho. Let us know if you narrow it down.

Have tried adjusting the sensitivity in the Wii menu?

Well this would make some sense I guess if people were able to get the controller to work without the sensor bar and using candles...

Are you talking about just the mouse like motions on the screen, or all wiimote functions?
