While cats fight, Rats fatten up
Who Is Winning the Console War? Nintendo
By: César A. Berardini - "Cesar"

We have a saying here in Argentina that translated to English says something like “while cats fight, rats fatten up.” That’s the best way to describe the current state of the console war.
According to the latest video game sales date from the NPD Group, Nintendo outsold all its competitors during the month of November with the company selling 55% of all video game systems.
The Nintendo Wii, which launched on Nov. 19 in the U.S., sold half a million systems in its first week of availability (and 600,000 units in its first eight days in the Americas).
Even more impressive is the fact that November's two top sellers of any type were the Nintendo DS, at almost 920,000 units, and the Game Boy Advance, with nearly 642,000 units sold.
The company issued today a press release proudly stating that Nintendo hardware outsold all others combined. Nintendo highlighted in the press release that if the Wii and GameCube totals are added to the portable sales figures, Nintendo sold through more than 2.1 million of the total 3.9 million systems purchased by U.S. gamers for the month of November.

Nah, gameplay is number 1, and it would just jack the price up. Nintendo knows what their doing.

I agree gameplay is #1 but I still want both gameplay and HD graphics and gameplay I have no doubt Nintendo knows what their doing as well as how to make a profit, they've proven that over and over again. I'd love for them to be #1 in the industry. Many of the best games were on Nintendo systems.
edit: Curious, so you will not mind if the next Nintendo console only supports up to 480p max? It wouldn't make a difference to you at all one way or another?
Well for me I have a nice HD display and I like when I have material to take advantage of it.

you got it. I can sit and play Twilight Princess and it never enters my mind. Just like when I play GoW, the pretty graphics don't help the unsatisfied feeling I got when I finished it. I like nice visuals and sound as much as the rest of you guy's. I have thousands of dollars worth of gear also, but take Burnout Revenge for example, I didn't enjoy it anymore on the 360 than the Xbox. I also enjoyed Rainbow Six 3 on the Xbox as much as Vegas. It all comes down to how sucked into it I get. I like that feeling when I'm playing or finish a game and just say DAMN! It's happened several times and graphics never were a factor. Seems like to me the more these developers focus on mapping textures and crap the less they think about story and gameplay. I can see the appeal of a GoW to some with the multiplayer, but I actually don't think it was a very good game. Halo's better than Halo2. Of course their are exceptions such as Elder Scrolls but normally for me it don't matter.

I'm digging Twilight Princess, but I'd be lying if I said the graphics never entered my mind. After playing Kameo I just think how much coole it could look if they had a bit more horsepower in the graphical engine.
I'm with you on Halo:CE, just add live ability to that and I'd buy it for the 360 in a heartbeat even at 480i.

As you probably already know. Twilght Princess is not the best the Wii can do. It is a GameCube port plain and simple. It was delayed many times cause Nintendo's not stupid. added wiimote support and widescreen and you've got a killer launch title for the new console. I have not read anything that suggest the graphics were touched at all. So while we won't see a GoW on the Wii, I think we will be more that satisfied with future releases.

Yup, I'm aware. True it isn't the best example. Nope, the graphics are identical (minuse the 16x9, not sure if intentional or not and the later Cube release date to push Wii sales). I have seen other Wii games however like COD3.
