Japan sales update...
Quote:
With the Wii having been available in Japan for almost a month, we thought we’d update you folks on how the white wonder has been performing in its native region as of late.
Good news for Nintendo fans, as the Wii sold 279,277 units this past week, making a total of 823,311 console sold since its launch earlier this year - and yes, as if you needed to ask, it’s already outselling PS3.
So far, internet ramblings are pointing at a total of 3 million Wii’s sold worldwide - quite an achievement to say the least.

That's quite a bit of Wii's, yet they are still pretty scarce. I feel lucky being able to have found one!

I know, I know. Problem is, the kids or wife are usually watching that TV and you all know from the photos that when I take it all apart its definitely all apart! haha. I just ordered some component cables for the Wii that will hopefully be arriving within the next week or so. With the 1st and 2nd being federal holidays, mail might be delayed.
So the next day I might be able to get to setting it up will probably be next weekend. Hopefully I have the cables by then so I don't have to set it up twice! Unfortunately, I think I'm going to need another set of component cables in order to get it set up the way I want. I used all my extra sets when I hooked up the external audio decoder on the HDA1.

Peench, why dont you use your AV receiver to do the switching? With a macro-remote, it is slick, and you wont have problems with running out of inputs on your tv, which I think you mentioned was a snag.

My receiver is too old. Here's a link. I got it waaay back in the day (easily 10 years ago). It doesn't have any component inputs or HDMI inputs or any of that fancy stuff. I don't want to upgrade my receiver until HDMI 1.3 is solid (bugs all worked out) and the prices become a bit more reasonable. Plus the sound from my received matched with my Paradigms is like music to my ears ( ).

You could look into getting a $300 Onkyo to hold you over a year until the HDMI switching receivers come down in price. They have at least three component inputs, and a bunch of digital audio inputs. I was able to find my Onkyo on floor model for $225! A modern receiver, even one at this price may surprise you in how much better your speakers/games/movies CAN sound.
I had a Kenwood similar to your Yamaha, and I was BLOWN away by the sound difference. I was pissed I waited SO long to upgrade. Plus when I do get a better main room receiver, I am moving this Onkyo to my bedroom setup. Plus your missing out on Pro-Logic II, which I think sounds great when needed. (The Wii is Pro-Logic II)

No can do this year. I'll be lucky to spend any more money on HT gear this year. But I'll keep my eye out. Right now I can make due with the stuff I have.

I know. Sad huh? Although, with this negative outlook so early, if things change unexpectedly, I will be able to pimp my HT out and upgrade!
