It's now official. Nintendo let the word out that they will be recalling and replacing the snapping straps for the Wii-mote.
From Next Generation:

An Associated Press story today quoted Nintendo spokesperson Yasuhiro Minagawa, "We are announcing the recall of 3.2 million straps for the Wii computer remote controllers. The decision comes after reports that some users in the United States threw their controllers when playing with Wii sports software.”

fo shizzle! I like that they addressed it real quickly! It probably also helps that the straps only cost them like a penny anyway. hahaha

My local news had a story about this, and the tag line was "Thinking about getting a loved one a new Nintendo Wii this holiday season, well think again." Then they went on to explain the recall. The funny thing is, the video running looked like PS3 press videos! It was a hoot! DAMN, I should have captured it for some exposure....
