Nintendo about to capitalize in a big way!

They've confirmed they have 400,000 units ready for day 1 in Japan(thats more than 4 times the amount Sony had). And thats just days 1 & 2, they have more at the helm to filter thru retail channels for the following 5 days

They are sending between 400,000 and 1,000,000 to the U.S. for launch. This is bigger news today than it would have been 2 days ago. Why? Developers and analysts are saying Sony doesnt have 400,000 ready for the US launch, 150 to 200,000 is much much more realistic of a number.

400,000 is also said to be the minimum for Europe, so even if they hit that mark in all 3 territories, thats 1.2 Million sold within a few days

I posted this in another thread but it deals with this topic in regards to the amount of systems Nintendo does indeed have ready for battle

Just left work, there were 20 or so people outside waiting to get their tickets, we got 13 Wiis in lastnight. Thats more than 6 times the amount of ps3s that we got, so the rumors were not rumors after all, Nintendo definitely has a LOT of systems set for retail. For kmart to get 5 of anything is huge news, 13 is unheard of

BUT....

There are reports coming in that says some parts of the country have yet to report in with sales #'s and its very posssible that Nintendo sold just over 1 MILLION consoles! If they shipped that many(as they said they would) its very possible indeed!

Still a million units at launch... That is amazing! I hope it performs well b/c it provides a nice alternative to the 360. Plus I'd like to see more people develop for it's unique interface.

When I started this thread a week ago, I never thought it would turn out like this.

Sony has cut their shipping goals in half....again.

They expect to get no more than an additional 200,000 to the U.S. from now until Christmas. Retailers are the culprits in getting the word out, they are livid. Thats less than 400,000 total in 6 weeks shipped and sold in the U.S. while Nintendo will reach close to the 2 million mark by January 1st here in the states.

With only that many units available at the busiest shopping time of the year, a LOT of people will be buying Wiis and 360s instead.

Nintendo has confirmed they have ready in waiting, 200,000 units to ship, per week to the U.S., for the remainder of 2006!

Thats another 1.2 Mill ontop of the 7 - 900,000 theyve sold so they were dead on when they said they'd have 2 million for the U.S. !!

Why do I always do a !!! in these posts?! It's refreshing to see a japanese console maker stick to their word, and not spew garbage for 18 months in hopes of hurting the competition
