New screenshots for Deca Sports (Wii) by Hudson Entertainment

Today Hudson Entertainment announced that new high res art and screens for five of the ten sports featured in the upcoming summer release of Deca Sports on the Wii.

Deca Sports will get players off their couches and on their feet as the
fun, family-oriented sports entertainment title features 10 sporting
events. Besides the sports featured in today's new assets, the game
also includes popular sporting activities such as Basketball, Beach
Volleyball, Snowboard Cross, Archery and Supercross.

Perfect for all ages, Deca Sports offers players an immersive sporting
experience, while incorporating the use of the Wii Remote in unique,
yet accessible ways. With a subtle swing of the Wii Remote players can
hit and spike the ball in Beach Volleyball, while twists of the wrist
produce a wild ride down the slopes in Snowboard Cross. In Figure
Skating players need to keep to the music and properly time all of
their jumps and spins in order to impress the judges while passing the
ball and lining up shots is essential in Soccer. All ten sports
support both single player and multiplayer modes.

This has gotta be part 2 of Wii Sports and looks awesome. I think Rhino played a bit of it when he was at Hudson a few months back. This looks hella fun!

I'm looking forward to seeing how this fares when released. If it's executed even decently, it could be a great time-waster. It might be my only way to play some semi-active basketball for a few months after having my ankle operated on come September(ish).

I just picked up Mario Kart but am seriously considering this. It looks like the type of game that was absolutely made for the Wii.

Yep. I broke down and made my first gaming purchase since I think Call of Duty 4. I pulled a Peench and purchased the GTAIV/Mario Kart polar opposites package.

Both are still in the shrink wrap but I hope to be getting some play time in on them very soon. My Wii ID is 8470 6184 0080 0593.

This review from Gamestop is not the type of press I was hoping Deca sports would receive. Though the sports included are definitely odd choices, many of them seemed as though they should be perfect for the Wii. It's sounding like this might hardly be worth a rental. Wii Play anyone?

Has anyone had a chance to play this yet? I'm curious what everyone (anyone) thinks.

That's odd. Rhino played it up at Hudson and said it was a blast. I have a demo disc that I haven't opened yet as I was toying with giving it away. Maybe I'll open it up and play some and let you all know. I was planning on picking it up at some point.

The reviews so far don't look very promising. I'll reserve judgement until I've tried it myself, but will say that I was hoping for more out of this one.
