Cowboys vs. Patriots
Alright, you knew it was coming... no, not the game, me creating this thread.
The Boys / Pats game this weekend has been one of the most anticipated games of the season this year, and althought it lost some of it's zing after the Cowboys mingled with a loss against the Bills in week 5, it still should be a doozy. Many people are handing the Patriots a win, as they have dominated every single team they have played this year, and no one has even given them a run for their money as of yet.
I still believe the Boys can win this game, and I think that they will. I think that they will be more prepared, and will have more to prove. Typically, when Romo feels he has something to prove, he plays better. TO has already shown that he's focused on the game, as he is refusing to even speak to the media until after the game. Patrick Crayton has become a solid #2 over the past weeks. His run after the catch is phenomenal, and he has three TD's in the past two weeks. The defense has been getting better every week, and played an incredible game last week. Those are a few of the reasons I think the Cowboys will be victorious this weekend.
Final score: 30-28 -Cowboys
What do you all think about the game, and predict a final score / victor.

I think it'll be a great game. Hopefully Romo shows up this week. My paranoia keeps me from predicting a score or an outcome. I mean, you may not be aware, but how I sit in my chair actually influences the outcome of Cowboy games, as does the shirt I wear, what I've eaten, and how many pencils are in the pencil cup at my office. It really has nothing to do with Romo or TO. They're great and all, but very secondary.
Last week was my bad. I had my legs crossed wrong until late in the fourth quarter. Thank goodness for Emmitt, my beagle (gee, wonder who he's named after?). He jumped in my lap and I shifted just right, and the Cowboys finally got things going.

Ok Quo, we're putting together a good luck/superstition checklist for you to go through before every Cowboy's game. I don't know if my heart can take another game like the Monday night game last week.
According to Accuscore The Patriots have a 53% chance of winning this game. They go on to say:
Quote:
|
if the New England Patriots have a good game, they will probably win. Dallas, on the other hand, must play a near-perfect game to have a chance.
|
but add that..
Quote:
|
last season, the Indianapolis Colts were 9-0 when they two-stepped into Dallas. The Cowboys executed an almost-perfect game and handed the Colts their first loss.
|
Then if you take a look at EA's Madden simulation you'll see they have the Patriots winning 41-10! Brady throws 4 TDs (2 to Moss) and Romo throws 3 INTs.
Also, none of the experts from ESPN think the Cowboys will win.
So, I guess it's just me, Quo, and Causedawg 83 that believe in the Cowboys this week.

I think it'll be a good game, but the Pats just have more weapons than the Cowboys.
My prediction:
38-17 Pats

I may have to take the sissy way out on this one, as I am a huge Cowboy fan but also a realist. Pats have the superior defense and I think that's what it will all come down to, but the Boys have a bit of an underdog X factor that tells me they can find a way to win this one. So, in being a chicken shit, here are my predictions:
If the Pats win, it'll be 41-20.
If the Boys win, it'll be 31-27.
Sorry, but I'm really torn on this game. I am certainly rooting for the latter score, but wouldn't be suprised with the former. More than anything, I'm worried about the Cowboys secondary. If the Cowboy defense can't get pressure on Brady, which is usually the case, then he'll pick apart the middle of the field especially. Jacque Reeves is in for the injured Anthony Henry, and if Wade Phillips wishes to use DeMarcus Ware to pass rush on Brady, there will be noone to cover TE Ben Watson over the middle.
Kama
Go Cowboys!!!

Well, the Cowboys have done a decent job this year of hiding Roy Williams' lousy MTM coverage skills... I'm very concerned about how much the Pats use the TE. Just a few broken coverages could be devastating. I'm just hoping Phillips' "defensive guru" label comes to fruition and the 'boys defense steps up. There's no question the Pats defense will play well- they always do- so I'm with you. I think I remember telling Stephen last night that I thought it would either be a close game that the 'boys could win, or a blowout in favor of the Pats.
You never know. Seems like every year the Jets or someone similarly mediocre either beats them or plays them very close. They're excellent, but not unbeatable. Both teams will be up for the game, so it'll be fun to watch.
