PGL Fantasy Football Draft

I thought I'd get this thing started a little early, just to have it in place. So we are good to go. Woundup may not be around until tomorrow, so no fretting if he doesn't pick today.

We'll be doing the draft in this thread and I'll try my best to keep the PGL FFL site up to date. Just copy the round we are in and paste it into your reply with your pick. I added the first pick of round 2 in this post since Crankbait has back-to-back picks.

Try your best to check this as often as you can, we do have to crank through 20 rounds of this. If you know you are coming up soon and don't think you'll be around, feel free to PM me maybe a list of two or three players you want for that round and I'll take care of it. So, here we go!

sorry to interrupt this thread again but given the amount of time it is taking to get through the first half of round one do you think you can keep a thread about who has been taken by position so that someone can quickly see if their choice is available instead of having an additional delay in notification and re-picking?

That list is a good idea, Crank. I don't know if we need a new thread, but at least an edit in the top post that can be updated. I can try to keep up with it too and edit Sam's post if he doesn't mind.

This is gonna go slow for sure, so we'll all have to be patient. We may end up having to have a draft night at the end to wrap things up. Overall though, we should still have a good shot at getting it done. We've got until September 6th (well, a few days before would be nice... Sam's got to enter the rosters and stuff, right?) or so, so say 15 days... we need to make 10 picks a day or so.

I'll be gone from Friday morning early until Saturday night, so I'll be stumped during that time. I may leave Sam a list to keep things moving during that time.

Thanks to Quo for editing the first post on this thread with a list of players already taken. I have been able to keep up with the PGL FFL site so that is (and has been) up to date with the draft.

I am confident that once we get through the first round, we will find a groove and pick up the pace (heck, we can't get any slower, ). My biggest concern is getting through the first round, because that will mean that everyone has made at least a pick and we could tell that everyone is on board and checking the forums and what not.

I think the biggest thing is finding a way to notify the guy who is up that he is up. We could go through 4 or 5 picks pretty quickly and the next guy on the list might be thinking, heck I'm not up for some time so he doesn't check the thread often. Any ideas on how to solve this? I'd be happy to maybe text everyone when they are up if everyone wants to shoot me thier cell # (so maybe PM me with them?).

Alright, this is ridiculous. I say if you do not make your pick within 24 hours you lose it. The bottom line is everyone knows it has started and you would think you would check in at least once per day. This is the first round and should be automatic.

What the heck is going to happen when people actually have to think about choosing a player?

Maybe we need to send some Live IMs as well.

I think this is why live drafts work best. you are not there you get the next highest ranked guy in a needed position. When I do live yahoo drafts we have 80% attendance so only 1-2 people are not there to pick. It's done in 3 hours then you can focus on trades.

We will get through this, although I did expect to check in finding you guys where waiting on me. I'm glad that's not the case.

I used this same fantasy football website for another league yesterday and the "Live Draft" and chatroom functions worked well. So that might be a solution for all of us to get together and not be on MSN messenger. The drawback is we have to have everyone online to do it. So maybe we can start throwing out dates and times and see what works for everyone.

This Saturday and Sunday are out for me (25th & 26th), I have four other drafts to do those days.

Also, concerning doing the draft throught the website, you can make your own lists of players you'd like in case you aren't around. I don't know if I would trust the website to pick my team, but if someone is adventuring enough
