I've been meaning to get this of my chest but am finally getting around to it.
Just before this 2007-2008 NBA season kicked off Carmelo Anthony and Iverson both came out and said they thought the Nuggets could win 60 games this year. Coach George Karl said, "Whoa, whoa, we can get 55 wins."
Are you three out of your mind?!?! Do you realize that you still play in the Western Conference? And know for a fact that teams like Dallas, San Antonio, Phoenix, Houston, and probably Utah are flat out, better than you? How are you going to win 60 games if there are four or five teams in your own conference that are superior to you? 60 wins?!? Are you kidding me? What, did the NBA expand to a 110-game season?
Here are the Nuggets record over the last two seasons:
2005-06 - Denver Nuggets 44-38
2006-07 - Denver Nuggets 45-37
Here is a better display of this team's talent, their wonderful post season record for the past three years:
2004-05 - Denver Nuggets 1-4
2005-06 - Denver Nuggets 1-4
2006-07 - Denver Nuggets 1-4
Here's an idea Nuggets, GET OUT OF THE FIRST ROUND!!! I'd like to see more out of my team than the token "We won a game in this series so we didn't get swept". Maybe after you make such bold statements like "60 wins" you can go out of beat New Orleans when you are AT HOME! Here's a hint; teams that win 60 games in a season beat teams like New Orleans when they are playing at home. In fact, they beat teams like New Orleans on the road as well.
Here's to another first round exit!
60 wins? Really? 60 wins?
