Among other things, he rubs me the wrong way because of the way he demands special treatment (recliner and his own separate area in the locker room/clubhouse, etc) and is (again, reportedly... obviously I'm not one of the Giants) hard on his teammates in a team-oriented sport. I'll cut just about anyone slack, but they generally have to not act like an ass to be considered not an ass.
Quo has spoken! Barry's an ass! I'm kidding. Who am I to say? The old cliche': actions speak louder than words is so true though. Barry's actions, the media's actions, and Paris Hilton's actions are all screaming that they're all a bunch of arseholes.

And said Bonds wasn't very hard to deal with at all and really didn't demand that much. Yea, he wants that comfy chair, but beyond he was easy and stay to himself. He said the Yankees were a big pain because of how many people they have coming into town.
As to being hard on teammates, this can be a misleading statement. I think someone like Barry is probably extremely competitive and probably doesn't like the guys who aren't giving all the can while in the game. I don't seem as someone who sugarcoats things very much to his coworkers.
That said, he still may be a jerk. Then again, who cares. It's not like people buy tickets to the game for a personality. It's to watch a good game from good players. And Barry is a good player. I would rather have a sour puss that does anything he can to win, then a guy who takes plays off and whines such as Randy Moss.

The Minnesota Timberwolves and Boston Celtics, who nearly completed a blockbuster Kevin Garnett trade before the June draft, resurrected those talks in recent days and have agreed to a megadeal that is likely to be announced later Tuesday, according to NBA front-office sources.
| Well it's official now. You really have to tip your hat to T-Wolves GM Kevin McHale. This deal was going to go down before the draft and the T-Wolves were going to get the #5 pick and Al Jefferson then . Fast forward to now and the T-Wolves get (basically) Al Jefferson. Yea, who wanted that #5 pick anyways?
At least McHale is still a Celtic at heart.

PIRATES MAKE TRADE SO THEY CAN BE LIKE THE COOL TEAMS
In need of starting pitching, the Pirates received Matt Morris from the Giants for rookie outfielder Rajai Davis and Mr. To Be Named later. Nothing wrong with that, even though Morris has been horrible for the last month and a half. But why would those teams, both cellar dwellers, rush to get that done by the deadline? That's like flying through traffic to get to McDonald's before breakfast ends, only to order a Sprite.

| | PGL Community Vendor | ESPN's Bill Simmons (Greatest. Writer. Ever.) has a great article called Welcome to the Summer of Discontent, very funny stuff, check it out when you get a chance. Here is a highlight from the article (also appears in ESPN the Magazine) Quote: |
It's been strangely entertaining to see so many people express shock and outrage that he could have done something so horrible. Um, he has the same DNA as Marcus Vick! That's like being shocked in 2012 when Lindsay Lohan's little sister gets her first DUI.

Thursday may be the end of the line for David Wells. In order to make room for All-Star Chris Young, who's coming off the DL, the Padres will designate the 44-year-old Boomer (0-3, 14.33 ERA in his last four starts) for assignment. Wells still wants to play and hopes to catch on with a contender for the stretch run -- as long as that team doesn't make him stretch and/or run.

Odds on where Bonds will star in 2008: - 5 to 1 San Francisco Giants
- 3 to 1 New York Yankees
- 2 to 1 Court TV

| | PGL Community Vendor | From this week's mailbag of Bill Simmons, the Sports Guy: Quote: Q: My friend and I have a $500 bet on who will die first: I have Rodman; he has Tyson. What do you think? I just figure Rodman can die for all the same reasons Tyson can, plus Rodman's more likely to fall off a party roof or die of a sex disease.
--Michael, Chicago SG: You scammed your buddy because Rodman is a 4-to-1 favorite to croak before Tyson does. Take it from someone who watched Tyson filming a taped piece for the ESPYS a few weeks ago -- he's more medicated than A.J. Soprano after the pool/suicide scene right now. He wanders around in a perpetual stupor; he's at least 30 pounds heavier than his fighting weight; and he has people driving him around everywhere. It's as if somebody shot him with one of those tranquilizer guns they use for elephants and rhinos. Meanwhile, Rodman has been partying like a suicidal rock star for a solid decade, and if that's not enough, he's completely broke. If he ever ended up in the same car at 2 a.m. with Lindsay Lohan on Sunset, the LAPD probably would just shoot out their tires before anything happened. My money's on him.

| | PGL Community Vendor | From ESPN's AM Jump: Quote: CHEAPSKATE OWNERS VS. THE GOOD PEOPLE OF SEATTLE
Aubrey McClendon, CEO of Chesapeake Energy and a minority stakeholder from the Sonics' new ownership group, said the team will move to Oklahoma City unless the owners get a sweetheart deal done for a new Seattle arena by Oct. 31. Kansas City, which is seeking an anchor tenant for its new arena, is also a possibility. Kabul, Afghanistan, the Arctic Circle, and the third moon of Jupiter were also cited as relocation candidates. Anywhere is fine, just as long as the owners don't actually have to build an arena with their own money.
