Beijing Summer Olympic Games 2008 Thread

Just thought id make this thread, ive been following most of the games, and if i missed the good ones i go to 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing | Athlete, Team Profiles, Olympics News | Free Photos & Videos | NBC Olympics and watch the full games without commercials.

Im surprised by China, they are really pushing themselves, So far they have the most GOLD medals with 13 compared to the USA who is second with 7 GOLD.

On the other hand we do have the most medals with 22 and China with 21.

The funny to me is China with 5 medals in Weightlifting...hahaha, that amazed me.

Also the USA swimmers have been putting on an excellent show and that 4x Relay where LEZAK pulled it off at the end for the GOLD was awesome.

Anybody have any favorite events that happened so far?

The 4x100 relay was amazing. Tonight the relay team broke a WR by like 5 seconds.
I'm excited for Track to start. The 100m should be sick.

...Those damn Chinese... Using 12 year old gymnasts. What a bunch of cheaters.

Really, I don't care about that. But there aint no way some of them girls are 16. The US buckled under the pressure by losing a girl to an injury though, and it showed.

I'll say one thing - the Chinese female dual diving (or whatever it's called) is about the best pair of divers I've ever seen as far as timing is concerned.

Yea, the 4x100 swimming relay the other day was phenominal. Even with about 15 meters left I still thought there was no way that the Americans could pull it out.

I have been watching a lot of the swimming.

There is NO WAY those Chinese gymnasts are 16. Come on, look at them. They look like my 6 yr old for shits sake. Too bad the IOC doesn't have the balls to actually do anything while the games are taking place in China.

I'm with you guys on the awesome relay finish and I'm loving how the games (minus the horrible stabbing) has been about the games and not the politics.

Guys im amazed at how much we think a like when it comes to those damned Lil Chinese gymnasts...me, My brother, My uncle, My dad, my 2 14 & 16 years old cousins didn't believe those girls where 16. Plus that 20 year old chinese girl used to be 16 during the last olympics so they have to say she is 20.

The 4X200m mens relay was awesome, they broke the world record by 4 seconds they won it under 7 mins.

No problem, I dont know about this guy Phelps...he is a beast, he's on a roll and is trying to win all 8 Gold medals for swimming, & China now has 17 gold compared to our 10

Here is the Chart of Medals

Gold / Silver / Bronze
USA 10 / 8 / 11 = 29

CHINA 17 / 5 / 5 = 27

The rest wont ever catch up and the next total is South Korea with 13 total

Props to China for really putting on a show, they are really hardcore right now.

The Gymnastics put on a cool show, Shawn Johnson was amazing on the beam, but Alicia Sacramone had 2 major faults, 1st was the Beam, she fell on the front flip she used to mount. 2nd was the dance floor, she was too worried about going out of bounds that she fell...the announcer said it was because her shoulders where too far back...but we know the truth!!!

HER NECKS TO DAMN BIG!

An open letter to the US woman's beach volleyball teams,

Ladies,

Congrats on making it to the Olympics! Two 2-women teams representing our country is great. However, between the four of you at least one of you should be cute. Don't get me wrong, you all have terrific, lean, tan, hard bodies, but that's it. I fear our country is, quite frankly, under represented.

Then again I am one who thinks women's beach volleyball should be scored something along the lines of: one-third smokin' body, one-third cuteness, and one-third who actually scored the point.

Best of luck anyways.

I seen that as it happened, it totally sucked for the guy...as it is they thought he messed up earlier.

What i didnt see was that weightlifting accident, that was disgusting, but as deputy said...great commentary.

Im watching the US Basketball vs. Greece.
