| MLB discussion I'm not much of MLB baseball till beginning of August, but I figure it would be good to have a MLB baseball thread. It's a good time to start since the season is starting.
BTW...Red Socks Stink!!!!!!!!!!!

The Rangers goal this year is to not be more than 10 games out by the end of April. If any longsuffering "boo-hoo I'm cursed" fans want to have a discussion about rooting for a team that sucks year-in and year-out, let's have it out! No one trades away talent and overpays for crappy pitching like the Texas Rangers... and they have absolutely nothing to show for it.

Come to think of it, The Patriots always lost also. It's almost no fun anymore when your beloved losers become the team to beat. I feel your pain and deep down inside I find myself following the Cubs. Baseball is the only team sport I am really passionate about nowadays.
Snake, you are going to love MLB2K8 if you liked the last 2 games. The new pitching system really adds to the feeling of being part of the game. The biggest problem I have with these games is that I just can't for the life of me tell when a ball is being thrown outside the strikezone. I find myself trying to hold off, but still swinging at pitches that hit the dirt 3 feet in front of the plate.
The swing stick makes it worse because I just can't stop once I start to step. Come to think of it, I do the same thing when I play softball. I just want to knock the crap out of the ball so bad!

Come to think of it, nobody on the team is really a hothead. The pitchers don't really headhunt and fights are very rarely started by anyone on Boston. The only thing I can think of it the way he sometimes likes to watch the homerun before he starts his jog around the bases. I admit that thing in Japan on opening day was a little uncalled for.

| Good points sir. I've just never been a fan of his. I think he does some of the worst showboating in the league at the plate (the game in Japan is a prime example) and don't understand why he doesn't get drilled more often. Plus, I've never been a fan of anyone that demands a trade, complains about not being traded, then promises that he wanted to be on the team all along. I understand that professional sports are big business, but there's a better way to handle it.
And, if I can be really picky, the guy dresses like a slob. Being a ball player from a kid to college, I can't handle the way he dresses. While I don't like a lot that the Yankees do, I support their stance on professionalism. His pants going down to the top of his shoes drives me crazy.
Whew, glad I got that off my chest!

| | PGL Community Vendor | Yo AZ!
Your boy, Eric Byrnes of the Diamondbacks, isn't the most popular player here in Colorado since he had this to say after Rockies took a 2-0 lead against them in the NLCS: Quote:
"I think we're a good team, I also don't think the Rockies have outplayed us, because they haven't, not even close. They've had a little luck go their way. Definitely, the ball has bounced in their direction. They've been the beneficiary of some calls.
"So when we look at that as a group, we look back on those first two games, we have not been outplayed. If anything, I think it's the other way around, so that gives us confidence knowing that we can play with them. That and the fact that we faced them about 9,000 times this year. We are not really fazed by what's going on right now."
| umm, and then what happend? | |

Join Date: Apr 2007 Location: New England Age: 36 | I will certainly concede those points AZ. I understand he is from NY and grew up watching the Yanks play, but when you play in Boston, you just can't say that kind of thing. He has pretty much shut up about going to NY since Boston became the big team and NY is in limbo. He has gotten creased a couple of times for his signature pauses after hitting a homer and now that I think of it, I would probably be pissed off by it if I were not a Boston fan.
One of the biggest things that used to annoy me was Randy Johnson's hairdo back when he was on the D backs. He was a god back in the day though.

I also think he takes plays off and acts like a lazy a%# in the outfield sometimes and that really drives me nuts. I really get tired of the whole "Manny being Manny" line also.
Brian, Being a lifelong Yankees fan I don't want you to think just because he's in Boston I don't like him. Thats just the icing on the cake. I couldn't stand him when he was in Cleveland because he acted the same exact way.

Join Date: Apr 2007 Location: New England Age: 36 | Again, I concede the laziness point. Ok, guys I guess I'm gonna bow out of this debate. Thanks for making it hard to defend you, Manny I guess you have to be a Boston fan to like him. But now the rest of the team....They ROCK
Hey BTW, I was trying to play a couple of games of MLB2K8 online today and for some reason in both games I could not swing the bat. I could do the step by pulling back on the stick, but could not swing forward. I even tried the A button, but nothing worked. Anyone else encountered this? I thought maybe the guys I was playing were cheating somehow.
