I'd rather be playing against Dallas than the Spurs as the Warriors would spank Dallas.. Spurs are scary, slow methodical and scary! You know exactly what the Spurs are going to do but no way to stop them, bastards!

TwoTimes, what's up with you not being a Spurs fan, man? It says you're from South Texas... you must be as hated in your community as I am in mine! (I'm in North Texas)

We went to the Mav's / Spurs game last week in Dallas, the one where Dirk got injured, and my wife and I got to wear our Duncan jerseys. We ended up being in an area saturated with other Spurs fans. I got a "Go Spurs Go" chant going, and we had several others like it, along with the "De-Fense" chants. It was absolutely great. It felt like we were in San Antonio.

It kinda sucked for my Mav's friends though. It sorta marked the point where the Spurs skyrocketed back to first, and the Mav's lost most of their potential to even make the playoffs. I really like to see them in the playoffs, as it's great for competition, and it gets my whole social group excited about basketball over the next couple months.
I was born in the Valley, but lived in the DFW area for 10 years. I started watching the Mavs when it was Dirk, Nash and Finley. So I REALLY don't like the Spurs. They cut our playoff runs short a few times. I'm grooming my neice and nephew to be Mavs fans too. I buy them Mavs stuff all the time.

Last year really sucked, I was dating a girl who was a big Spurs fan. I had to kick her to the curb.

I moved back about 3 years ago, but I still follow the Mavs. Long live NBA League Pass.

The Mavs have a horrible record against Golden State the past few years. For the past 2 or 3 years the Warriors have spanked the Mavs. Most games by like 15 - 20.

They sure did get spanked yesterday, it was a nice game. Al Harrington is starting to Bank 3 pointers, and Monta Ellis and Steven Jackson have stepped their game up big time. I totally missed the game with Denver but the Warriors lost and they definitely needed to win this game against the MAVS, so its off to the playoffs now.

I know what you mean there. I lucked out and found a girl who claimed to be a Spurs fan. She is, she's just not as much into basketball as I am. That was good enough, as it's really hard to find Spurs fans up here. Needless to say, I married her. Haha!

I want to know how the Nuggets could suck so much on defense when they have Camby's blocks and rebounds anchoring. We all know they can score but they should be so much better on defense. They should be a top 5 western team.

Don't come back at me with the Mavs suck sh**. I know they are sucking right now.

I don't watch the Nuggets that often. So I am really asking you guys who watch them.

Great question. Marcus Camby is actually a very overrated defender. He won Defensive Player of the Year last year, and might win it again this year, but it was totally based on his numbers. He is currently 2nd in the league in rebounding at 13.3 a game (18.2 per 40 minutes) and leads in the league in block shots at 3.72 per game (3.72 per 40 and is the only player in the league with more blocks than fouls) and those stats along with steals are the only stats you would look at for defensive excellence.

However, if you watch the Nuggets play you realize that Camby is not that good. His block shots come from the opposing players driving the lane and him coming over to block those shots. He is very good at that, but it isn't like he is blocking Tim Duncan's shot or Dirk Nowitski's shot, it is against 6'5" guards. So his stats get overinflated, and he has nevershut down an opposing big man. Just last night Shaq and Amare combined for 61 points.

The other problem is Denver has no good perimeter defenders. Iverson plays shooting guard which matches him up against a taller opponent and the Nuggets guards rotate so poorly that other teams light it up from outside. Coach George Karl was quoted once about how it seems like every team they play has their best shooting night against Denver. Well, it ain't luck, it's terrible defense. Any time the Nuggets play anyone with a decent shooting guard, you can bet the house he is going to have a huge night.

BTW, the Nuggets gave up 81 points in the 2nd half to Phoenix. I guess we'll see if they can make any adjustments as they rematch tonight in Denver.

When the Lakers get Bynum and Gasol running they are going to be the scariest team in the league, well them or Boston but I like LA's chances if they meet Boston. I think Kobe would carry them over. Boston has some crazy talent but their stars don't have the same fire that Kobe has which is much like what Jordan had. I just don't see that in Garnett despite me liking him quite a bit and being a great player I think if you stuck in Kobe's mind in his body he'd be much more lethal.

None of this talk matters. All that matters is that the defending champs are hungry and they're looking for seconds. ... No wait, we're looking for their fifth.

Oh, and also this:

I like the Lakers chances If, and I mean a big IF, he decides to continue to play team ball. He's arguably one the most talent players in the league today, but until he can figure out that he needs, and learns to use the rest of his team, he's nothing more than talent. He's still all about Kobe and nothing more. I'm sure he'll try to take over games in the playoffs, which will ultimately shoot the team in the foot. An open shot from a role has better odds of going in then Kobe being tripled team.

Yes, I don't like Kobe very much and I'm still a Lakers fan. If he had Magics mind for basket ball, then Kobe would be one scary player in today's game.
