Here is a perfect example of understanding the frustrations of being a Nuggets fan. Just a couple of days ago I posted about how they run no offense, basically playing pickup basketball, and play little to no defense.
Last night, they go out and do this:
Quote:
Iverson scored 31 points, and the Nuggets were nearly flawless, scoring the most points in the NBA this season in a 138-96 rout of the Seattle SuperSonics.
Denver easily snapped its three-game losing streak, with a large amount of its points coming on uncontested dunks and layups. Toss in 9-for-17 shooting on 3-pointers with all those easy baskets at the rim, and the Nuggets set a franchise record by shooting 67.0 percent.
|
Just when you give up on them the do this. When you start believing in them again they turn in another stinker of a performance.

The Lakers of course. Right now they're leading the West, so it's easy to proclaim, even though Kobe is on the team.

The rollar-coaster ride that are the Denver Nuggets was in full up-swing Sunday night, when they scored a league season high 168 points in a 52-point win over the Seattle Sonics. The 168 point effort is the 4th highest score for a regulation game in the history of the NBA, just five points shy of the Suns 173 point game, ironically against the Nuggets in 1990.
Here is a funny fact: the most points scored in a half this year was 84 points by the Nuggets. They did it tonight. Twice.
So, in the last three games the Nuggets have won by 22 points, 32 points, and now 52 points. Wow, are they turning things around? Well those three games were against Memphis, Toronto, and Seattle and they were all at home.
Up next for the Nuggets, a five game road trip; at Detroit and at Phily (back-to-back nights), at New Jersey, and then at Toronto and at Memphis for another back-to-back games. Then it's back home against Dallas and Golden St, and then a home and away against Phoenix.
Of course, as of right now the 40-26 Nuggets are still in the 9th spot, a game and a half behind Golden State for the 8th and final playoff spot. This season and team are going to be really frustrating when they don't make the post-season.

Man, I was psyched to see that last night! I really hope they can find a way to make the playoffs. It would really suck if they don't get in with a record like that. I think they can play with anyone in the West, although San Antonio always presents a problem.

Damn, the Nuggets looked good tonight against the Dirk-less Mavericks, beating them 118-105, and outscoring them 58-35 in the 2nd half. Melo had a huge game with 32 points, 10 rebounds, and 8 assists and recorded his 9000th point. Also, this was Nene's first game back from cancer, and I gotta tell you, that was a pretty cool moment when he checked into the game at the very end.
With the Nuggets tied with Golden State (GS plays later tonight) for the 8th spot and the Mavericks falling fast, I'm thinking the Nuggets might just sneak in to the playoffs. But man do they have a tough week. The monster huge game of the season against AlphaQ GehaD's Golden State Warriors on Saturday, then a home-and-home against Phoenix.
Are you getting your mug shot ready?
