| Strange - when you choose port forwarding on your router you get that error? Take me thru the steps you have taken to get to that point so we can figure out where its getting funked up. | |

| So you are getting the "cannot find server" on your PC? Or when you are trying to apply the changes?
It sounds like you may have an IP conflict (i.e. your computer and PS3 may be trying to both use the same IP address).
Were you able to save the port forwarding changes in your router's admin panel?
Can you still access the internet on your PS3 and your PC?

| Hm... So you are getting to your router and trying to make the changes and then it is giving you that error. Strange.
Can you take us through the exact steps you took while trying to make the changes? Don't leave anything out. We'll get this thing figured out for you!

| What? They wanted you to put your router in Bridge Mode? That makes no sense.
How do you have your system connected right now?
DLS/Cable to Modem, to router, to PS3? Or wirelessly or...? Map out how you have your system connected and we'll get started helping you out CHT!

| Strange. Not sure why they had you put your router in bridge mode, that makes no sense at all. Those ports a different only by the 10070. I didn't have those in mine.
I would say put the router back in router mode, then open up those ports, make sure you have your PS3 set with a static IP address that is not going to be taken by another device on your network (high enough that DHCP won't issue it to something else). Save all the settings, then unplug your router for a minute, turn off your PS3, then turn everything back on and see what happens. Let us know.

Thanks for trying to help but we decided to get rid of the router. I just don't like it and am not cazy for the support from Linksys. I am thinking about getting a D-LINK GAMERLOUNGE WIRELESS 108G GAMING ROUTER. It has gotten pretty good reviews.

| I'm still a bit confused on all of the steps you've taken, but let me see if I have this right. Sounds like you set up a static IP address on your PS3. Did you take the gateway and other information from your router or from the PS3 when it was set up with DHCP?
Also, when you set up the port forwarding on your router, did you save the new settings?
Does your router have a cap on the number of IP addresses it will give out? For example, if it will only give out IP's within the range of .2 - .22, then if you give something a .23, the router won't like that.
One other thing that I noticed with my router was that uPnP funked up stuff. In theory it should be on, but when it was on it didn't allow my ports to actually be open. I ended up having to turn it off. That was when I was setting up my xbox though, I didn't have to change it when I set up my PS3.
Did your laptop grab .5 too perhaps? That might cause a problem.
Double check how many IP addresses your router can give out. Then see how many it actually has given out (there should be an IP table list). Then choose something a little higher (but still within the range that can be given out), for your PS3.
Let me know if that works.

Let me know if that works. | I took all the gateway info from the connection status on the ps3 I would go as high as 85 I believe for the IP I will try 20 and see if that works

| Wow Doug, I hadn't even thought of that. Thanks for passing that on. These days with so many different electronic components in the mix it is often hard to narrow down why something isn't working. Thanks for sharing that tip! | |
