| How long have you been gaming? I've been away from my consoles for a little over a week now. Am I a gaming geek for the fact that my inability to play console games is driving me crazy?!
It got me thinking about how ingrained gaming is in my life. I've been gaming on various machines for many years now so I don't really think of it as "something else." I guess it has simply become a part of my life.
So how long have you all been gaming? Feel free to include any gaming that you can remember. Don't necessarily include card games or the other Milton Bradly games we all played growing up!

Join Date: Jun 2007 Location: Kelowna, BC, Canada, Age: 15 | first, since i was old enough to understand a video-game, i watched my bro and dad play mech warrior 2, and even played a little bit myself, but not hard core...
my dad recovered an atari when i was young, so i started on that (roughly in 1996, so i was four...) playing space invaders, pac-man and some space game (can't remember what it was) with my bro...
then moved to an N64 playing smash bro's and zelda,
gameboys playing zelda and some other classics,
then computer gaming with RTS's like age of empires and command and conquer, mech warrior 4, and of course, Diablo II
i gradually went back to gaming on a console at friends places, playing xbox's early classics, and PS2's snowboard/racing games, (SSX on tour, amped, and midnight club three dub edition later on) but i never actually devoted myself to it until the first time i played unreal championship-04 on the x-box, i fell in love with it...
i couldn't afford an x-box until i moved back to my hometown kelowna, so i was still outta the loop when halo-1 came out...
when i finally got an x-box, the only games i had were HALO, simpsons road rage, and a demo for another mech game, and crimson skies demo
countless hours of halo for everyone! i had lans coming out my ying-yang all the way until halo 2 came out... then using my pro skillz, i moved on to online play! pwning noobs rather than the good people beside me... i was the only one with live in the neighborhood, so everyone flocked over almost everyday to play...
after a while on live, using free trials, of course... i eventually got bored of the two outcomes, getting my ass whooped, and/or no real challange... so back to the lans I go! this time playing gametypes such as cat/mouse, analprobe, (knickname for golden showers... neither sound too good) chili-sauce, zombies, and many other gametypes (most racially offensive or crude by some sort)
after that, they announced halo-3's existence, the 360, and other things, so naturally i got them, as well as a new comp for gaming, which is how i found this place... and the rest is history... well, all of it is...
but anyways i've most likely been playing just over 11 years if you count the occasional mech-warior 2 mission that my bro was unable to do...
man, i'm so addicted...

PS: I've played the madden NFL games, but never really liked them, or any other sports oriented game for that matter...

Join Date: Jul 2007 Location: Midwest City, OK Age: 21 | I picked up my first controller probably when I was about 3 years old, started on the NES of course. Believe it or not, I've never played an Atari system. From the NES I moved to the SNES and Genesis, then to N64 and Playstation. My first fourth generation system (starting with the NES) was the Dreamcast, and it was probably my favorite console next to the Xbox and 360. It had so many great games; Sonic Adventure, Shenmue, Rainbow Six, Skies of Arcadia and Vigilante 8: 2nd Offense to name a few. And probably the best Gundam game made, Gundam Side Story 0079: Rise From the Ashes.
I then got a PS2, which got me hooked onto all Koei games (Dynasty Warriors, Kessen, Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Samurai Warriors). During that time I was somewhere in between a casual and hardcore gamer, I guess a normal gamer? But that pretty much changed with the release of the Xbox, which I first played at my friend Drake's (aka Vyise, though I don't think most of you know him) along with two games, Halo and Morrowind. Believe it or not, Morrowind was the game that actually got me to purchase my first Xbox. Halo was a bonus. And since then it's been all Xbox.

| Too long. Since the early 70's when we got a Magnavox(?) game system. You put overlays on the TV screen for the different games. | |

| Yo Im 21 & 22 in October and Id say 17-22 years of gaming in these hands...I was living in the middle east, all our oldschool games/systems were imported.
I started out my Gaming career with the infamous Atari 2600, I believe i still have the Cords, console, Controllers, and Games for this and another console. I also had the Coleco but only have the games, then Came my Japanese N.E.S. or i think they called it the Famicom.
A Famicom (mine was Jet Black and had Yellow buttons
My type of games http://www.nespit.com/new/multipirate/fami72.jpg
I needed to convert my Famicom games to play with the American NES when i came here and Vice versa so i needed these...
I Also had an MSX and i dont know where that falls around, But i remember Old school Rambo and metal gear, Goonies, Track and Field, Pitfall...all of them. So im assuming when i was 3-4 i started on those. There is another system that i remember we had to play using Cassettes, Not sure what that system was or called, I dont think it came out in the states.

| I remember a Store called "Knights VideoGames" if thats what you mean. so far I've never met a person who also played a MSX. I can't believe we used to be excited to go home and play that after school. My Famicom was da Shiznit. | |
