Why do you buy a game?

I am certain that the choice of buying a game is a very complex decision for most of us. I like a balanced game that has a good story, good graphics and fun gameplay. When push comes to shove though, I'll give up quite a bit for some awesome gameplay. If the game is simply fun, most of the other stuff can take a back seat while I'm enjoying myself.

While we all have varied reasons for buying games, what is your number one reason? If you had to choose a game for one aspect alone, what would it be?

Despite the fact that some of the choices encompass a few of the others, there's no copping out and no waffling, choose only one!

Pretty much for the multiplayer. To me, once I bought Xbox LIVE, I found it a waist of money to play single player only games.

So vote in the poll!!

I'll tell you what, but for the members here at PGL and all the great gamers I've met over the years, I don't know that I'd be doing any multiplayer games. Now it is mostly all that I play!

I picked multiplayer... However, that isn't it totally it... I play whatever anyone is playing single player or multiplayer.

Same... I picked multi, though gameplay is key. Ever since Goldeneye, I have loved playing against my friends. XBL and Halo 2 were very welcome additions to my gaming life.

Multiplayer! Although I did have alot of fun in crackdown playing by myself.
The experience of playing with fellow PGL members makes multiplayer so much better than jumping into multiplayer with anyone. It can be a night and day differerence between the two. Without PGL I definitely wouldn't play multiplayer as much.

- Multiplayer , Like Shadorun or Halo2, 3
- Story Line , Like Halo3 or Oblivion

This one's tough to answer for me, because I want to answer "Simply Fun Gameplay" -- but fun gameplay requires either multiplayer ir cooperative as far as I'm concerned. All the other stuff is pretty insignificant, really. It just has to be fun, and part of it being fun includes having co-op or multiplayer. I answered "gameplay" because I do, on occassion, still buy a single player game just because it's fun.

To Me it has to be both, Multiplayer & Fun Gameplay. Ive fell in love with multiplayer hardcore after Counter-strike, Which is only a multiplayer game to start with. So when the time came for Shadowrun it did not bother me that there was no Singleplayer. The only single player campaigns ive beaten so far was, Fight night 3, Saints row, GOW. But for my Love of Multiplayer that is what i picked, But in chooseing a game its always both. I would not have gotten Shadowrun or any other game if it wasn't fun. Like Fuzion Frenzy Sucks hardcore if you dont have 3 other people playing with you. If it was the Cpu the game would be broken already. But usually you should have 3 people and at least 3-6 beers in your system to have fun in Fuzion frenzy.

Multiplayer FTW!

Innovation for me. It doesn't have to be a lot of innovation, it just can't be recycled crap.

Multiplayer is another good choice.

Voted for fun gameplay, but some games I buy because they are popular with PGL friends list.

Voted for multi-player, but that is hardly a complete answer. This poll might benefit from being able to pick multiple reasons, similar to the FNFF polls. It might give a better picture of what is and isn't important to people, rather than them qualifying their answers. Good question, for sure!

Oh you think you're a poll master now Geoff? Huh?!? Just because you have Lord in front of your name or something?!?

Nah, I said in the post, sack up and pick one item. The emphasis of the question is what is the "most" important aspect!

gameplay, co-op multiplayer are big as well. I would love for almost every game to have co-op, it just makes them more fun in general.

graphics and sound are important as well

story and voice acting don't really matter to me, sometimes the horrible ones make it more entertaining as you have something to laugh at.

DLC, I definitely don't buy a game in hopes of upcoming DLC

Defiantly Storyline. RPG games just suck me in and wont let me go lol! I was on oblivion 70 hours straight when I got it... Then I traded it in, Now I regret it lol¬¬ Wanting to play the expansion. RPGS's should deffo allways have future dlc like oblivion they could just keep adding stuff and maybe make 2,000 GS the max for a game

Co-Op is way better than multiplayer IMO, I prefer working with others than against personally. But Multiplayer is also one of my fave reasons. Before I had live I only ever played One mmorpg a time, Multiplayer and PVP reasons. And then I just playing FPS's and RPG's like shenmue ect on consoles to follow stories and horror games like resi evils. I pretty much now play everything but mmorpgs cus they waste so much time.
